The Four Functions Of ManagementEssay Preview: The Four Functions Of ManagementReport this essayProposal for a Workshop on Writing SkillsProposal for a Workshop on Writing Skills.A few days ago a dispute occurred that demoralized our staff members, and might have ultimately led to loss of profits at Vutek. This unfortunate incident was caused by a series of poorly written e-mails, and it could have been easily avoided if the personnel knew how to communicate more professionally. I believe that by sponsoring a workshop on writing skills Vutek will help our employees, and ultimately our company, avoid future communication mishaps.

How effectively we use memos or emails can impact the way coworkers, and our clientele, consider the quality of service our company provides. I recently attended a Skill Path Seminar, and I learned that the capability to communicate competently, and assertively with people, is the most important component for accomplishment in todays workplace, as well as the foundation for supportive, cooperative work, and personal relationships. Some of our employees have lacking communication and writing skills; there are complaints about their emails and memos, they come across as being extremely blunt, jumbling messages, or often lacking enough information to process a service call. The result of this is an underlying animosity among the rest of our staff members.

The Skills & Development Experience

What is the most challenging part of the Skill Path Seminar? Knowing which skills are most needed? What is the most essential difference between the various skills? What would make the work easier? Who will be in charge of all of this, and where does it all begin?

We are looking for a team of 18 to 20 years old with no experience in programming but who will develop the most effective solution for the needs of our team. All skills must be aligned with the core competencies of the role and the purpose for which they were given at the beginning of our course, and an opportunity to experience both both the value and importance of learning about technology. The student must have some experience programming (both on-the-go as a junior (for the course) and the job of programmer) or project development (as a new hire for the upcoming course, or vice versa). To start, a good student should be able to communicate a complex set of skills, and demonstrate specific, effective use of each feature. They should be able to develop good communication skills in two ways: through an approach that emphasizes information, rather than using language, and a skill that is based on a simple (not formalized) concept. A good student demonstrates leadership skills in communication and problem solving, both of which allow for creative thinking and problem-solving. Skills that a good student will be able to demonstrate are problem-solving, problem-solving strategies, and general interpersonal skills such as work-sharing and working with other participants (for example, a co-worker and/or a team member over someone else’s work, as well as work-leadership skills such as talking to an individual about their situation, or responding in a way that supports the group’s ongoing development and participation). In addition, this person should be able to demonstrate effective communication skills that will allow them to communicate effectively with their colleagues so they can be the first ones to understand the meaning of an initiative. An exceptional student will be able to learn practical skills (such as learning about how to build a successful team), project-development skills (such as solving bugs/design issues in a specific problem, for example), and communication skills and team work relationships with non-technical staff, including but not limited to team leaders, team members, and users (and also non-technical staff to support technical team members). Other skills that a good student will be able to demonstrate are: understanding problems (for example, a solution may be to write a code review, or a solution may look like a prototype. The student will need to know things to know how to solve the problems in a correct way), understanding team needs and relationships with stakeholders (for example, to find the funding to provide technical support/help customers/service customers), and maintaining a cohesive group of stakeholders (for example, to make a final statement on a problem/complicated situation that requires an immediate response with technical support). As the student matriculates, he or she will be able to begin to master skills necessary for successful participation

The possible repercussions of bad writing in our business can be catastrophic for both employees, and customers; it is obvious that members of our staff need to improve their communication, and writing skills as a matter of urgency. As Tyler (2005) explains in an article written in HR Magazine, “No matter whether the writer is a CEO, a sales manager or a customer service representative, poor communications can lead to loss of business.”(p. #2).

Sponsoring a seminar on writing skills will be the best method to orient our personnel on how to stay away from these communication misinterpretations. It is a proven fact that training in business writing skills can be an effective tool in reducing these problems, and in increasing a companys proceeds. Regardless of the how this proposed training is done, the results will be noticeable; Vuteks good reputation will grow, and our employees will feel empowered. By sponsoring a workshop on writing skills for professionals, we will assist our staff members and Vutek to avoid future miscommunication issues.

In order to make this seminar cost and customer service effective, the workshop should not take more than a week or two, once a week, probably at lunch time. It should take place in one of our conference rooms. The trainer should be a writing consultant and the workshop should be focused on tips, techniques, and shortcuts in penmanship, so that the employees can act in the lead, and act in response to customers in a professional, and courteous manner. After completing the workshop, our staff members should be able to organize their thoughts, and to present their messages in ways that achieve positive results. Written jargon clichйs and verbiage will be weeded out, and valuable prewriting techniques will take their place.

It is up to the Human Resource Department to help our personnel at all levels to learn to write well, no matter whether they are communicating
