He uses research scientific that human body needs darkness to produce hormone melatonin and enhance immunity to viruses, which prevent certain cancers from developing. After that, he talks about the negative effects of  “short sleep” include “diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and depression.” Bogard uses authoritative evidence to support the reason that people should preservation of natural darkness.
