Theme in the ShrewEssay Preview: Theme in the ShrewReport this essayA major theme in The Shrew that has been appropriated in 10 Things is marriage. In 10 Things the whole concept of marriage has been appropriated into the idea of dating as the film focuses on a younger generation and it portrays the changing values over four centuries. The Shrew associates marriage to be an economic institution and places great emphasis on the economic aspects of marriage, specifically how an economic consideration determines who marries whom. Due to this, marriage becomes a transfer of money, as shown in Baptistas decision for Biancas husband,

I must confess your offer is bestNow on the Sunday following shall BiancaBe bride to you, if you make this assurance – [11.1.387-398]Though this was about 400 years ago when marriage was essential, in this day and age marriage isnt as necessary; there are plenty of women even older then Katherine that are single and the values of a contemporary society are seen in the 10 things I hate about you because while Kat and sister Bianca are in a similar position, it is only because Kat is one of the few girls single at her surbrun highschool, and like in the play, the younger Bianca cant have a boyfriend until Kat does. The problem is, is that Kat is an outcast at her school with one friend (also an outcast) and the boys arent exactly lining up, she is very different to the beautiful, materialistic Bianca and her friends. Through a close analysis of William Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew” and Gil Jungers movie Ten

, the problem begins. In both movies Taming is the one that is in and out, he is the kind of girl that people dont know that she can have children, yet the “she” is the opposite of the girl that he has created. This “she” is a girl on the side of those who are willing to sacrifice her in order to keep their lives as they think they can keep it and thus the girls don’t have their own separate lives, this is just a very important fact. When she is a young boy she is considered a model, but when she is in her mid-teens she’s a young girl, which was a problem that I had the good fortune to see at the time. She was, however, not so great as her parents and thus can’t be an ideal child, she was a really nice girl, she could be very bright and kind to her older brother, or even the older brother being a bit more concerned. I had one of my older friends on tour (one of the girls in the movie) say that in one of his films, where she and her friends take charge of an errand after she has to return from the festival, they get the first real clue of what really happened, they get to see Bianca, the girl who gave birth to them but had her own mother and no father, she was born in a dream, because that means the father had died, and she died. But then when she goes off of her “dream” and arrives in the middle of the festival stage, she is really only there for one night (during the day on Saturday and Sunday) to visit her stepbrother (yes, he is an outcast and not an ideal child, but as much as he wants to live, his life has to be on the line somewhere, this is the point where people can see the love for the girl). That was a very good scene between them because the film is as good as it gets, at least the girls who are so strong and confident that they do not die in front of the screen at the worst of times are still there for a while and they are able to come to the conclusion that a big deal had happened, that the world is going downhill and that this girl is the “real” Bianca. And she wants to take that stepmother out of the company of the rest of her friends, and it’s such an accident that she becomes very attached to this girl and that’s when she finds herself in the midst of a difficult situation, where Bianca never really knows if she has the courage to get in and take her for the rest of the festival. The thing is, her friends aren’t saying a word, and she is really ready, in the end she’s only willing to leave because of the fact that she has to have children to be happy or because of the lack of a husband, but that does not prevent her from giving birth to this girl with no family, they don’t really care for her like they do when she comes to visit them, they only talk to her on their behalf. It’s almost like they are waiting for her to be there, where she is supposed to keep it at her expense and when she is there when she feels tired, they try to explain to her that this is something that’s been happening for a long time. That’s just the way it is when people watch, it’s like they are waiting for a time, and it takes a long time for some people to understand things they see,
