Moral standards in the United States are much too low. Today, many US residents seem to feel that they shouldnt have to work and that they should just get everything they need or want from the government. People on welfare find that if they get a job, they may only get as much income for their unskilled labor as they received while on welfare. Because of this, they do not have the incentive to work, and they do not try to improve themselves. Then they try to get minimum wage raised, only to find out that everything else gets more expensive as minimum wage gets higher. People who get temporary help for disabilities, can unfortunately find some unscrupulous doctor who will say that the still need aid even after they have are capable of working again.

Another big problem is the number of illegal immigrants that we allow to stay in this country. They are taking our jobs and receiving government aid, and then we wonder why our country is in so much debt! If all the illegals were kicked out of this country, we would be in a lot better shape. We arent even supposed to call these people “illegals,” they have to be called “undocumented workers” or some equally stupid title. Although we say we would have too many unfilled jobs if we didnt have these, “undocumented workers”, it is not true. Americans would work if they didnt their welfare checks handed to them, and had to work for them.

Just looking at the number of abortions and out-of-wedlock pregnancies tells us how low our moral standards have become. In 2006, about 49% of pregnancies among American women are unintended, about half of these were terminated by abortion and about 52% of those abortions are obtained by women under 25. About two thirds of women who get abortions say that they “cant afford a child,”. That is the excuse they have for committing murder, when they could always put their baby up for adoption.
