Wal-Mart and It’s Urban Expansion Strategy
Problems:
Immigration and customs raided Wal-Mart and found many problems
Media reported many problems
It was named the largest class action lawsuit
Activists and Union leaders criticized it for its low wages and low prices that put pressure on competitors/
became a political symbol as Democratic candidates criticized it for health benefits
History of opposing unionization
Chicago Stores:
-To open in west and east side of Chicago
-Chicago works rights board said it would cost more jobs than it would create.
– Chicago Federation of labor said they need to agree not to sell groceries at any Chicago stores, to avoid driving down wages of its grocery competitors.

Despite all the problems that Wall- Mart brought with them, it would bring positive things to Chicago. It would offer many people jobs and teach them how to work so they could one day work somewhere other than Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart would give the people of the east and west hope and opportunities to make something of themselves.

One thing that Wal-Mart could possibly do would be to raise their wages to equal the wages of the other supermarkets in the Chicago area.
