There are many valuable resources available to the University of Phoenix student. I will review three of the most important ones to a student in the MBA program. They are the rEsource, Learning Teams, and Problem-Based Learning. Lets take a more in depth look at each one of these!
The Value of rEsource
The rEsource section of the online experience includes an eBook Collection, where one can find a multitude of books available for download or purchase. This is particularly helpful when time doesnt permit searching through selections at a library or bookstore.
Another section of rEsource is the Center for Writing Excellence. In this section,Ñ™OоÑ=ÑКa submit a paper to be checked for plagiarism by the “Plagiarism Checker.” One can, also, get help with the fundamentals of writing, such as grammar and format with “Writepoint.” Theres also “Tutor Review,” where the student can receive detailed feedback on how to improve. The Center for Writing Excellence is a great asset; it enhances the students ability to succeed.
The University Library is, also, a section of the rEsource. In the online library, one can access articles, journals, encyclopedias, periodicals, books, etc. Imagine having a whole library at your disposal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
The resources are designed to support the student and facilitate the overall learning experience. The diversity of the rEsource aids in the successful completion of any degree program. In my opinion, rEsource is the most beneficial of the three!
The Value of Learning Teams
Learning Teams in the work environment are cost effective. Specific tasks can be performed more quickly and at a lower cost by using in-house teams rather than consultants. In most cases, teams are chosen for their expertise in a particular area, thus reducing the need for time consuming and/or costly research. Furthermore, in team training, skills learned can be reapplied in any situation.
Learning Teams, also, develop valuable workplace skills. Team members learn to think divergently and work cooperatively. Problem solving skills are developed in the process. Groups often stimulate new ways of seeing, understanding, and doing.
In addition, Learning Teams improve staff morale. Leadership and decision-making are shared, giving members a stake in the change process.
However, there are challenges to working with Learning Teams. Senge (1990) stated that “a group of talented individual learners will not necessarily produce a learning team, any more than a group of talented athletes will produce a great sports team” (p.16).
