The Bible is the account of Gods action in the world and his purpose with all creation. The accounts in the Bible generally were not written down as they occurred, but were told over and over again and then handed down through the years before someone finally wrote them down. So along with the diversity there is also a remarkable unity. The writing of the Bible took place over sixteen hundred years, it is an amazing collection of sixty-six books of very different styles all containing the message God desired us to have. The Bible was written by over forty different writers coming from many walks of life, including kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, and herdsmen. Yet the same theme is found throughout the book.

As the book notes, a Christians “theology must be predicated upon a solid conviction that Gods Word is trustworthy”. The Bible outlines the use of Scripture in a believers and a Christian educators life, 2 Timothy 3:15-17 “And how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”. Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it”. Christian Education is simply teaching others about Jesus Christ and His will for our lives. A Christian educator using Scripture as a foundation can give the student wisdom which leads them to faith in Jesus Christ and then what they discover in the Bible will also show them how to live a godly life, it teaches the student about God and godliness. “The astute Christian educator sees his or her work as an extension of Christs mission to draw humankind into a saving and intimate relationship with a loving God”.

For the believer it is a guide for living their life to the fullest, it gives a road map for lifes perilous journey. It is a refuge in trouble, people in pain, turn to the Bible and found strength. It is a treasury of insight as to what a Christian truly is, not as some non-believers think, meaningless robots, but magnificent creatures of a God who love and have a purpose and a destiny. It is a sourcebook for everyday living, a place where a Christian can find standards for conduct, guidelines for knowing right from wrong, and principles that help them in a confused society where so often anything goes.
