Greening StadiumsByBlack Art Tech Team  Mission Statement/Goals:                There is a trend on the horizon in the American football league, not on the grid-iron but in the board room and in the offices. It is quite extraordinary to think a building seating over 50,000 for one game could be turned into an eco-friendly structure. Stadiums of today have lagged when it comes to implementation on green building while other modern office structures have found ways to add standard system of energy conservation in their designs. We aim to create an environment not only conducive and self-sustained for today but for the future were or future generation will be able to reap the seed of a healthy and self- sufficient environment. This paper is to properly evaluate what effect such great structures have on the economy and its people.Main Problems:                           One of many problems that have plagued these stadiums occur after games, the snack bar wrappers and empty cans left behind by the fans. This is the main problem among many others faced by NFL team owners face. Food snack wrappers are all left on the benches and on the field. Picking each piece of trash is obviously a tedious work to do. Aside from that there many other problems huge stadiums face, problems that include higher emissions of greenhouse gasses and higher levels of soil pollution, which in turn deteriorate the value of the stadium. America is home to different types of sports and each sport is capable of drawing in a large number of spectators, with that said, imagine what it would feel like to be 1 of those 50,000 people who make their way to a stadium with no form of air ventilation. With all the fanfare comes a lot of waste whether it is bottles, hotdogs, beer cans and popcorn, matter of fact is for every game a lot of waste is produced. These items we call waste are actually opportunities to reuse and recycle.[pic 1]Proposal:           No matter what your color your team wears, there’s one color that every sports fan can root for, Green. Be it the Major league Baseball All-star game, NHL winter classic or the U.S Open tennis championship one thing is certain, all aspect of sports are looking for ways to make their arenas environmentally friendly. The reason why eco-friendly stadiums are often neglected by the board is because they often have one mission, which is to make money so all other parts of bettering the environment are often left out.                We would like to propose a tippable stadium seating that is transported via a conveyor system to a large compactor used to compress any waste into large pellets to be used as fuel to power all interior restaurants, booths and facilities and heat water and each space requiring heat. The fuels gotten could be used to power certain parts of the stadium or be sold for revenue. Air ventilation system could be used to purify the air to keep crowd members from inhaling toxic air. Solar panels and water recycling systems will be used to generate efficient form of electricity and produce clean, pure and reusable water respectively.                 In essence, there are no risks in going green and there hardly any disadvantages except that is expensive. In the long it gives the organization global recognition. Makes the stadiums a safer and less hazardous environment for people of all ages. If proper devotion is put into this project, it will only generate revenue and foreign investments from around the world.        Solution There are certain ways stadiums can go green: The parking lot: Stadiums can encourage green vehicles by offering reserved parking for fans with hybrids. While others can incentivized with discounted tickets to ride bikes to games

CarpoolingIncreased use of public transportation Main Entrance: E- tickets or one printed on 100% recycled paper. Concession: Everything form of trash can be divided into two bins, Recycle and Compost and will be put at every corner. Food not sold could be donated to the organizations dedicated to feeding the homeless. Tippable seats to aid easy clearing of trash after games. Trash that can later be used for fuel after being to a compactor. Bathrooms: Aerators on faucets and low flow toilets conserve water, while toilet paper can be made from 100% recycled material. Stadium-Wide: This simply is a means of making the stadiums run solely on renewable energy replacing lighting bulbs with LED lights. Solar thermal power to reduce dependency on traditional petroleum based energy resources. Low VOC paints FSC certified woodDescription                           In the short run an organization seeking to convert to sustainable means of process will always find it difficult. Though expensive, such an idea will prove to be very cost effective in the long run as materials used for construction are manufactured in such a way that cost of production is at a bare minimum. Even if they cost so much money, during their usage they save so much that in return, money likely to be gotten back exceeds that used in its creation. Structures have a tendency to reduce both embodied and operating energy consumption. Waste gasification, a process of converting garbage into fuel, one which can be used on waste left behind by fans after games. Developed by MIT, this .Water consumption is another objective in a sustainable building. Water can be wasted by irrigation, leaking toilets, unattended running water and showers. Recycling rain water would be a good idea and using it as toilet flushing water would be a very conservative method. The number of annual fans that visit stadiums are approximately at 181 million per year by multiplying its capacity with its number of home games it not hard to see how crowded games get. Emphasis are put on the ventilation system, such can be powered passively or naturally. The most important thing such a stadium should have is clean air, the air should always be filtered. During construction low or zero emission materials should be used because most materials used on building nowadays are toxic to the environment. If ventilation for cafeteria and toilets and other isolated rooms aren’t properly ventilated, it could lead to growth of mold.
