Introductory English Essay
I have always been curious about the world in which I have found myself in, and, being curious, has led me down many paths. I have found that sometimes it is beneficial for survival, or just a dessert for me to savor. It is not always learned in the classroom, but sometimes learned by what I like to think of as The School of Hard Knocks.

Life happens. It is not always easy to ignore. Situations arise that call on all our resources to be able to try to keep body and soul together. I have found that the more I absorbed from reading, and through the observation of my fellow humans, I was able to reduce my level of failure. I was able to find work that let me use my skills, maybe a little training required; it is getting harder to do that.

It seemed to go in spells when there was an opportunity for formal education. When I was younger, it was harder to get financial aide than it is now, and I spent a lot of time in the library trying to glean a little knowledge. No World Wide Web to turn to.I was also busy coping with child-rearing, and it was a full-time job. All my children provided me with challenges that kept my brain from turning into jello. I was involved in their education, and they have realized the importance of fulfilling their potential.

The United States is getting very technological, and the world is not relying on The School of Hard Knocks as much as it used too. It is a challenge going back to college at my age, but it is worth it. I get encouraged to use all my knowledge and skills, meet stimulating people, and apply what I learn. I hope never to lose my curiosity for life.
