How did the United Farmworkers association (UFW) succeed in creating a social
movement founded on the plight of the farmworker that revolutionized the way an
entire people now live in this country?
I. Thesis and Intro
The farmworkers movement became the catalyst for a revolution in the
way Mexicans would live and work in the United States due to the success of the UFW and the motivation it inspired.
There were three main attempts made by four different unions to
organize the oppressed farmworking communities in California but only Cesar
Chavezs UFW succeeded. The UFWs cause, begun as a somewhat simple battle for basic human rights, laid the foundation upon which Mexican-Americans are able to work and live in this country today.
