During the winter, you spread salt daily on your driveway to melt the snow. In the springtime, when the lawn begins to grow, you notice that there is no grass growing for about 3 inches from the driveway. Furthermore, the grass seems to be growing more slowly up to about 1 foot from the driveway.

Hypothesis
Is that the grass grow is being inhibited by the salt.
During a typical winter was could last possibly anywhere from 5 to 6 months depending solely upon the region of the world that you would live in. This also depends upon the amount of snow and freezing temperatures within that region. If there is a combination of freezing temperatures and participation in the form of snow or freezing rain than salt will be used to melt the snow or ice. If this is what is happening in your region then you will have to issues growing grass in and around your sidewalk or driveway. There are two types of salt that are used when melting ice or snow one which would be rock salt and the other to be just normal table salt. Once the melody starts by using either one of these products you will have what is known as salt water which will inhibited grass growth. We know that plants need water to help grow as well as different types of fertilizer which will make them bloom even more beautiful in case of flowers. Through the process of osmosis the saltwater mix is moved through the panel membranes of the soil. Soil water is then mixed and is sort by the roots of our grass and other plants. However some plans will benefit some growth with low salt concentration. With grass and other non-tolerant plants the salt concentration deprives the moisture and water from the roots. We can assume that this is what is happening then the plants are being robbed water. This then would calls result in a reversible death of the area grass or plants and around sidewalks and driveways?

The experiment that we will design will be by taking and they now a walkway and a driveway and a smaller area so that we can do the experiment by putting ice on the driveway and sidewalk and then applying either table salt rock salt and then we can watch is see how the secretion of the saltwater mixture affect the immediate brass that lies in the area in and around the sidewalk and driveway. As we observed what is happening with the grass we will see that the grass fades from a nice green color to a white collar that feels like straw.
