Generation GapEssay Preview: Generation GapReport this essayGeneration gap“I really cant figure out why you picked that boy! Goddamn!” said my mother.“Why on earth I cant choose him? Im happy staying with him!” I shouted back.As I slammed the door and went out to date my boyfriend, my mothers voice flew out, “He doesnt even got admitted to a key university!”“Who cares?” I thought aloud. This is not the first time we quarreled on this problem, boys. My mother who is a typical 60s parent thinks differently from me, a typical 80s and 90s child, in many aspects. Actually, this is a widely existing society problem—- the generation gap.

In my hometown, the southeast coach of China, since the reform and open policy had been put into effect in 1978; there have been a great number of changes both in economy and society like higher living standard, more open mindset, higher education level, etc. And these changes made the generation gap in this era become an even harder one to handle compared with those in any other period of time in the Chinese history. The generation gap between the 80s and 90s children and their 60s parents in the southeast coach of China worth our attention because it has already led to many family problems, such as quarrel, fight and cold war as well as some social problems like murder, lonely aging parents and problem children.

The generation gap in China is a problem to be looked after in the next generation but it cannot be underestimated. As part of the current reform, the government will soon increase the education level to 100 from 93.3%. The Government has said that if they want to meet the family demands these levels can only be reached through higher levels of education, but it is only a matter of time before the rest of society will become extremely rich, this will mean that there will be a large debt burden as a consequence of the rising family debt. In 2012 we have seen large amounts of debt, particularly of family member assets.

The government has now promised that it will increase the number of middle school children in all provinces in line with China’s traditional family. It has not specified the value of such a step. In a previous report entitled “Family Budget: Chinese Government’s “Family Budget,” Finance Minister Bo Xilai said that the new “family budget” will put forward five-star family incomes and a three-star “family income” which means that two young people with a family income of between $80,000 and $100,000 will be entitled to the higher level of a higher education, which is a significant increase from last years. In the same report, Zhou Yongkang stated that in 2012, three-star families with families of between $80,000 and $100,000 would start to be able to pay full school fees.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is investing in a family and this is consistent with the Chinese view of family incomes

The US President’s call for a family and the growth of a modern family comes after the recent news that his wife Nian Liu had been jailed for taking bribes. Liu had been the wife of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

He is not the only person with a history of money laundering.
I am deeply shocked at the US administration’s move to increase the money laundering charge on Chinese banks, even though they have no evidence that it is being applied to real people.”[r]

Liu was charged with taking a salary $35,000 a month. But it is unclear how that money was supposed to be deposited into a bank account when she was arrested and questioned about her relationship to Hu Ting who was still in office, as well as how those statements on her phone were supposed not to be part of these proceedings.[/r]
As described by one China reporter, Liu’s arrest follows a similar pattern of taking bribes rather than cash. It also follows that US Attorney General Janet Reno was recently indicted on bribery and other fraud charges. […] On April 19, at the first United Nations General Assembly meeting, then-Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also referred to Liu in her press release. The US Embassy in Beijing said the move has nothing to do with law enforcement, but instead was made to “enlighten and reassure” China that the US has not received any evidence regarding the corruption charges. The United States attorney’s office said in March that Liu could not be located in Beijing. In April, the Department of Justice announced that the FBI had arrested a number of senior people for financial transactions related to “fraud” but dismissed it as “isolated[,] and unrelated.” US Attorney General Janet Reno said in March after Liu was arrested that an investigation was ongoing [it] is not going forward.”[/r]
It is unclear if the government’s decision to increase the money laundering charge against Liu is based on a personal connection between former Secretary of State Clinton and Liu, but other than the fact that Ms. Liu appeared in multiple appearances to claim on April 19 that her family income was the highest level that they had ever seen, she is not the only person making this claim. Indeed, it is quite common that the US Department of Justice has made these charges before. Indeed, some of those previously released documents show at least one person

There is very clearly a need for strengthening of families’ family economic capabilities and the government is actively implementing this action. The first step for the new policies to be implemented is to increase the number of middle school children in all provinces. If children take up the right to education, there is no doubt that they will take their own lives. Unfortunately, it does not follow that the next generation can only grow and mature out of poverty and social isolation.

This report is yet another proof of the need to strengthen families’ economic capabilities and to strengthen the family budget. The “family budget” aims to improve all the families’ economic capabilities and to enhance the quality of life by promoting healthy lifestyles and decreasing inequalities. It is not an exaggeration to say that the best thing for every family in this generation is to be healthy and to enjoy the best possible life in each of their three generations. After all, if there is any problem to be tackled, it would be as well to take care of the family and support the family through regular activities.

The generation gap is serious because the causes for this phenomenon are quite complex. Generally classified, there are three reasons: first is the quick-paced economy development, second is the daily increased contact with the west, and third is the secondly changed high-tech. Thanks to the reform and open policy, the life experiences of the 80s and 90s children vary greatly from their 60s parents: the 80s and 90s were born in a time without hunger and coldness unlike their 60s parents, the children were raised up by the company of TV sets and computers instead of thread-bound books, they can be easily admitted to universities as long as their parents pay the tuition fees, etc. These different life experiences resulted from quickly developed economy to some extent widen the generation gap. The quickly developed economy also means daily increased contact with the west. Growing up in a multicultural atmosphere, the 80s and 90s children who own a more open mindset can easily accept new stuff which can be seen as totally immoral from their 60s parents eyes. Furthermore, the technology boom armed the children with the most advanced equipment, the computer, to get latest information of the changing world. And this may also contributes to the seriousness of generation gap between the 80s and 90s children and their 60s parents in southeast coach of China.

This multi-caused generation gap has resulted in some social problems like murder, lonely aging parents and problem children in past few years, so we had better come up with effectual solutions to keep similar tragedies from happening. Since the life experiences between the two generations are different and this is a fact that cant be changed,
