In “Living on the Edge” Julia Smith (2006) discusses what would happen to society if society limits extreme athletes chosen sports? She claims restricting extreme athletes and blocking their access to extreme sports will make them find other dangerous to express their energy. First, Smith explains why some people choose to do extreme sports. She claims that some people join extreme sports because they have “Type T personality,” she quotes psychologist Frank Farley who defines Type T personality as people who take risks and seek stimulation anywhere. Then Smith describes the positive and negative-aspects of Type T personality. Type-T’s are doing a lot of extreme sport. But Type-T also have negative aspects. Next, Smith explains where Type T personality comes from and why Type T’s need outlets to take risks. She claims that Type T personality is naturally produced in some people’s life. She using Dr. Ernest Noble of the University of California explain D2 and D4 dopamine. She also claims Watters explain people do extreme sports because the world become safety and safety. Finally, Smith urges us to support extreme athletes. She thinks people should support extreme athletes to do some high-risk sport. There are two reason why I agree with Julia Smith’s conclusion that we should encourage extreme athletes and not limit Extreme sports: extreme sports can help people be successful in their work and extreme athletes are professional and safe.        The first reason why we should not limit extreme sport is that extreme sports can help people to be successful in their work. People play extreme sport to release their pressure of the work because it can help people put more focus on their work. In “Type-T Personalities Thrill Seekers” Frank Farley interview said “creative people in all field, people who change the world.” He also shows the example “Albert Einstein: I believe he was a big-time risk taker.” He used Einstein to be an example. He thinks Einstein is T positive. He has highly creative, he creates a lot of thing to help people’s life become better. We should support people to do extreme sports, maybe they will success in one day.
