Technology has involved in many ways to make us safer. Cameras at traffic intersections are helpful to monitor traffic laws and issue violations. These cameras are beneficial in three different ways. They catch repeat offenders, detour violations, and allow police to focus on more violent crimes. State laws have allowed for police departments to monitor and place traffic cameras all over different parts of major cities around

the U.S.
Placing cameras at intersections are especially good for catching repeat offenders. These repeat offenders often run red lights or speed through intersections. With the thought process if I can get away with it once I can get away with it again. Placing cameras at intersections allows repeat offenders to be ticketed and also it takes away points on their driving record. Too many points can cause someone to lose their driving privileges after repeat offenses. Also, a hefty fine comes along with running red lights or speeding through intersections somewhere in the range of $100. The reasons range from being late to work during rush hour , or they just did not want to wait for the red light. Essentially having cameras posted at intersections are a impressive set of second eyes when that area cannot be patrolled by an actual police officer. The deterrence of having a cameras works better than not having one. Vehicle operators will begin to take notice of the traffic cameras and posted signs on their day to day commute. Also, the flash that the cameras produces in itself is enough to detour people from breaking the law. Witnessing the flash produced in response to someone running a red light tends to be hugely intimidating to other drivers. This by itself makes drivers more aware of their surroundings when traveling through an intersection with cameras posted. Deterrence is the biggest issue of keeping individuals from plowing through lights overall increasing safety for everyone to commute without incident. These cameras most vital asset is not only deterrence , but coverage as well to allow police to focus
