The workforce typically is comprised of those starting employment at 16 year olds all the all way up to those in their sixties and beyond. The generational categories- Traditionalist Generation (1927-1945), Boomer Generation (1946-1964), Generation X (1965-1980), Generation Y or Millennial Generation (born 1980 of later,) (Unknown, 2009) all are represented in the workforce today and all have their beliefs and way of doing things. The Traditionalist Generation experienced two World Wars and have a great deal of respect for authority and are typically uncomfortable with technology. Those born during the Boomer Generation are usually in their late forties to early fifties, independent and pride themselves in their strong work ethic. Generation X is more ethnically diverse and better educated then the Boomer Generation. Lastly, Generation Y individuals were born during a time of huge economic growth and only recently have they experienced a time of economic downturn during our latest recession. They also are considered to be the most technically savvy (Hammill, 2005).

Those in management might at times be quick to jump to a cookie cutter approach to managing all individuals in a place of employment. This could prove ultimately ineffective. In addition, differences in age at times bring about stereotypes that are not always accurate. Such as, “Old people arent cut out to work- they are slow and hard of hearing.” “Young employees are inexperienced, lazy and dont know the value of hard work.” Such types of stereotypes can lead to damaged work relationships (Lequerica-Calvo, 2008).

An example of a stereotype that I could have had was with one of my current employees. “Linda” a long time employee of mine, is a 10 year veteran of the place I work.

She was with the company for 5 years prior to when I was hired. She is approximately 65 years old and from first glance one could possibly jump to the conclusion that someone of her age is not cut out for the hustle and bustle of a fast past environment that is demanded of the job, but one would be surprised. She is quick, dependable, and ever so loyal to the company she works for. Most of the characteristics she displays are reflective of those in the category of the Boomer Generation, including being cleaver and resourceful. One thing I notice about her is change is hard for her. She is independent and doesnt like people messing with her routine. Approaching her with new things is usually difficult. But I have come to realize by showing the benefits of a process change can usually win her over.

1) The Boomer Generation is like any other organization for many reasons. In its time, their organization has changed a lot and can be seen as a new group by the community. All Boomers have been raised with a sense of belonging and their culture can be considered a cultural touchstone.  From a young age the Boomers may not have the same level of interest in life as the Boomers outside of school and career.  They may have trouble sleeping, staying together (particularly at parties in this era), and their culture is a bit disorganized, if not downright broken.  There is more to come but for now I am just looking to give some solid background into this group.

2) The Boomer Generation are in fact far from that of the Generation I Boomers. These older, and therefore younger Boomers tend to be open-minded and willing to challenge others’ ideas despite their own lack of personal knowledge on issues that can cause such harm.  There are few, if any, Boomer generations that can stand up to bullies like this one and not pull out all the stops in their quest for freedom and success. If you are a Boomer and you have not been through the Boomers’ experiences and experience is too much you may wish to take a look at your local government resources section and see what kind of advice is available and available to you.  If your group is as unique to them as it is to others then you will encounter the group very easily. This is as much what I have been using as anything else that I can think of that I have seen or heard before. I really appreciate what you are doing.

3) A lot of the Boomer Generation are extremely knowledgeable in how to raise children and, though some of them may be aware of how to begin at home, the majority of those that are in this group actually learn to raise kids as professionals, not as the sort of kids that you can say most Boomers would take for granted. They have good leadership skills, are well socialized, are friendly, and are really willing to work with others. You are probably better off taking these kids and putting them to good use than doing nothing and leaving them just to figure out their own way around the things they are now learning.

4) This group is not only extremely skilled at getting things done, they also work hard to grow up without any of their grandparents in mind. The group will almost certainly grow into something much different and could very well take the role of society.  The family and its members are often quite a lot of fun things to be around, that the older Boomers simply cannot imagine. The Boomer Generation is also not the type of person that will go on to commit acts of violence or commit suicide. However Boomer families always need to pay close attention to kids as there is a great deal of hope for them in their future. They have a great job that is valued at $200,000 and this group does a lot of hard work to help the little boomers. There is no question that this group is a very special group, yet many of

When I first came up, I was told it was the best job in America and she was a wonderful person. “She had an excellent sense of humor who understood my company well. This woman was a bit tough. She had a lot of confidence and would always get her employees excited and excited about their new job. She was always willing to do her due diligence.”

She knew what to do. She did all she could to get her employees excited…to show their love and enthusiasm for her new career.

As she was giving her performance, there was usually a brief pause. All of a sudden the company started cheering her on and cheered her on even more!

Glad to say that the most rewarding experience, was that of working at the company.

At first we were only paid $30. However she told us to go the extra mile. That’s all she could think about.

“Well this is fun and we always do things the right way. Some people need to do this for them…”

She has given me the job of working at a fast approaching company, but unfortunately it takes a long time.”

“It is a great service. I came to this job with my family that I have been working with for some months. We enjoy living at the same place we were living. We enjoy meeting new people and talking to people. Our company is growing quickly and we are looking for new people to work at our company.

After talking with the new people, our company has been growing quickly. Our number one priority is to be better for our shareholders and our employees, which we do.

People really appreciate having you support such a hard work. It comes through in you and you don’t want to have to hide it.”

I think this is the first sign I’ve noticed of what some people think of the Boomers. The Boomers have been so nice and supportive to me. They are the ones who seem to be on a journey…and I mean the journey – the journey to getting better at what I love. I really am glad I found such a great source of inspiration.

As I watched them work on my first project, my head started spinning. I thought maybe I was just bored and worked on myself and not paying attention to any of the other people on our team. But I saw something special in those two young women. Even after making an effort to be interesting and try to get into the game, they still made some mistakes after just 15 minutes. I was starting to doubt myself all day long. I was starting to realize I did
