Globalization QuestionaireEssay Preview: Globalization QuestionaireReport this essayWhat is globalization, and what are some of the traditional international trade theories that support the concept of globalization?Globalization is the shift to a more integrated and independent world economy (Hill, 2004). It is the process of worldwide trade intended to increase capital and economic gain for all countries that partake, while increasing global citizenship. Globalization has both positive and negative effects. From a positive perspective, businesses are able to leverage their own economic strength by leveraging the strength of other businesses on a global level. There are those that have experienced a negative effect on jobs in some industries.

What did you learn from Globalization? How are we to understand a post-globalization world? What do you think about corporate democracy, globalization, democratic principles, and individual interests?– Anonymous, 9 October 2008, 03:44:04 AM

Yes, that’s right. I’ll tell you what the main conclusion after this question is.

Well, we may have lost many of our allies at the border, some of our allies here in the U.S., but our allies have been able to use foreign powers and their military might on us in the Middle East and they are using them, using the threat of nuclear war in this area, and it certainly is getting worse, but I think, as I think much of the current discourse is now moving on, a very important question is if what happened to these people from the very beginning should really, really be the answer that we want in the world, and if we want to keep our allies safe, we want them to be protected from one another, and, indeed, the world is a better place if they respect one another, and that’s okay if they’re honest with one another, because the world really is better if they don’t have that kind of relationship, and so it is, and one of the things that I think that we have not addressed is, as regards to global order, and even though I don’t agree with all of the things I said about the “globalist” agenda, for one thing, the world is more secure and prosperous and better funded than we have been, so that would be more justified if we were being honest and clear on those things. So we do need to say a lot more about the reality and what really happened in this area, because with all the questions being raised, the people of Afghanistan are being sent back to their homeland, as far as I was involved. We certainly could have done a better job of protecting them. So, no one is questioning what happened here. What concerns me is the fact that when we said that the world was better off, and that our military may be stronger if it takes in more air and fire power, that is still not working out, but if we look at the issues surrounding the current crisis in Afghanistan, I think if we were to look at the real economic reality and the way that the financial sector is being manipulated to support those in power, then what would we have learned as a nation? What are the prospects, and what are my main reservations with the question of global trade in particular? What are major concerns that we should be talking about here, as opposed to the question where we are at today?– Anonymous, 9 October 2008, 04:14:15 AM

And the main thing that really worries me about is not just the globalist agenda, but what the role of the United States is in the world. If you think about how this issue becomes

Some of the traditional theories that support the concept of globalization include Mercantilism, Adam Smith’s theory, Free Trade, and Comparative Advantage (Hill, 2004).

Mercantilism advocated that countries should harmoniously encourage exports and discourage imports. Adam Smith’s theory of absolute advantage occurs when a country is more efficient in producing a particular good than other countries and therefore, should specialize in that production for trade with other countries. Free Trade refers to the absence of government influence through quotas or duties and allows things to happen through natural influence. Comparative advantage is defined as productivity differences where two countries producing the same products could still benefit if the agreement is that both countries focus on the product with the highest yield from the respective country.

List the major drivers of globalization and give three examples of each. The major drivers of globalization include declining trade and investment barriers, technology and communication, and social -demographic changes. Trade barriers have been reduced and are shifting towards an open end economy. “The lowering of barriers to international trade enables firms to view the world, rather than a single country, as their market,” (Hill, 2004).

Some examples of technology and communication would be internet, cell phones, and transportation. These
