Uganda in the World Economy
Uganda is a poverty stricken country plagued with economic instabilities. Since the 1980’s, the economy has remained on a fairly steady climb, but many have doubts about the continuation of growth. The main reasons are the weak infrastructure and corrupted government from the history in Uganda. Indeed, Idi Amin’s “President for Life” proclamation and a large-scale massacre are the biggest affair in history. Uganda will never achieve a stable economy if they do not establish changes to their infrastructure. The evolution in telecommunication is one of necessary solution that improves the nationwide communication to follow the recent trend in global market. Today, the world’s various organizations analyze and suggest the solution for the innovation based on many research databases. Now, the primary role of government in promoting the acquisition of immediate information through ICT is to focus on the overarching importance of maximizing wireless communication coverage while improving access to the technology for the rural poor (ICTA). As wireless telecommunication technology improves rapidly in cost-effectiveness and stability, Uganda will become one of beneficence in foreseeable future.

The country is located in east-central Africa with a total area of 241,550.7 square kilometers and 18% of land in Uganda is made up of lake, river, and wetlands (UNDP). Uganda is bordered by Kenya to the west side, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Kenya to the east, Tanzania and Rwanda to the south, The Republic of Congo to the west, and Sudan to the north. The area of Uganda is slightly smaller than Oregon State in United States. The estimated population in Uganda is about 32.9 million people and the annual population growth is 3.2%, which is the one of the highest in the world (UBS).
