To Begin my paper, I would first like relay how much more this makes sense to write papers with a draft. I learned this in grade school, but at 26, Ive seem to have forgot somethings. Though I do like to “free-ball” an essay, this is absolute necessary part of a college writing. The topic of violent video-games is not something a fellow like me would typically study, simply because I have no kids and barely play video games. Never did become a dedicated gamer like some, I started out a carpenter because I couldnt sit still, with always something to fix and getting a pay check was nice too. Going back to to High school though, this is where most of my essay relates to this topic. Even earlier than that, we never had any school shootings around my town, other than in the city, (Detroit) because drug deals gone bad within gangs. Those are some kids that adapted violence ideology from theyre environment. Speaking forward though, I would like to point out that a childs thought usually isnt of consequence if rooted from anger. But none the less of what I have heard to be more grave and shocking violence is from areas of the mid-west. It was a big awakening when Columbine went down because things like that didnt ever happen at that mass of a scale. A handful of tragedies have happened since, but none like Columbine. So of course we looked to what these kids were on to commit that crime. At the time I wrote it off as, incomprehensible. Blame the video games, yes that might have been part of the training mechanism (not a good one), but every human knows what hes doing when his life is self-taken. There was something much deeper going on in their thought process about the after-life. Some sort of evil impulse took over the committing soul to want to put a bullet through ones own head. I think some feel that they are so gone, they cant be saved and let evil rule theyre actions. Im sure Eric and Dylan wanted to be known also, this is probably why they did it if they planned it for a year.

The game that is said to have made Eric and Dylan kill is “doom,” but from what I remember demons are the enemy in the game doom, not innocent kids the same age. These peers all came from living breathing families, streets, neighborhoods, and were born of natural human decent. They werent born from A/C current, the energy source that makes programming possible. In my opinion there is no way to relate what they did to those games. I also believe that the game only offered a bit a training virtual reality, if I may, allowing a child to feel the power of virtual weapons, a control source. I know lots of kids that played doom in my old neighborhood, but thats about it. None of them wanted to shoot up the school after playing it, maybe just a little scared to sleep. There was unnatural influence other than human logic involved in the Columbine case, one that influences many aspects of the world. Murder on mass scale is nothing new, not even surprising that teens act it out. But education can change everything and will bring back whoever is willing to learn that may be on this path. Capability is not proven until shown, unfortunately cases like that are meant to cause confusion. But what it has essentially done is increase a sense of awareness and make more jobs. It also could be said that it helped the overall mental health for high school committees, by awareness. Now, parents are watching more of what types of virtual games youth play, establishing rating systems, effecting purchasing age limits, following the precedent that was started in CA and currently followed by all major distributers of violent media. As far as a national ban of such violent media, the industry warns the Federal Government to not ban the sale because it would be a huge loss the industry, accounting for 30% of its annual sales. This in turn would have an effect to the amount of taxable sales the government would receive as a result. Surprisingly, eliminating the media that would be considered “unwholesome” would serve as a greater financial impact than of such events that they supposedly cause.

Now, there is infrastructure of therapists and psychologists within schools meet the needs of those who arent feeling healthy in the life department. And in recent years, it is well known that there is a massive attack on depressed kids, with medication. This can either help, or greatly increase the suicide rate. Hopefully saving innocent lives at best. Get them doped up, till college and they will be able to make
