Abstract
The reason or the purpose of rehabilitation is to return a troubled person back to the state where they can be an asset to society. When it comes to juvenile rehabilitation, it is a system that is intended especially for minors. In particular it is for minors whose behavior displays that they are not able to be a productive citizen by committing crime and getting in trouble. The juvenile rehabilitation is not one that was designed or intended to punish; it was designed to help troubled juveniles. The methods of juvenile rehabilitation can vary in a number of ways. There are a number of methods that are structured to deter future delinquency, and help provide a strong leadership role that will serve as guidance rather than serve as a form of punishment (Wise Geek, 2012).

In order to be able to help Tony effectively we have to take a look at his entire situation. Tony doesnt think that drinking and smoking marijuana is a problem, because his parents drink and smoke. To get him help we have to find the best program for him as well as his family. There are different types of juvenile rehabilitation programs; however the use depends on the crime that is committed by juveniles, and the resource in the area. After carefully evaluating Tony situation at home I feel that it is in the familys best interest to go through a drug treatment program as well as family counseling. Furthermore, Tony can use some individual counseling. Since Tony was picked up for driving under the influence of alcohol, and marijuana he will go to drug court where juveniles are required to go through drug treatment, and undergo random drug testing. When Tony was being evaluated by the probation office, Tony told the office that his parents drink and smoke marijuana all the time. It is not surprising that Tony parents drink alcohol and smoke marijuana.

Alcoholism is not a single person disease it is a family disease, because of its genetic components that is passed through generations. Approximately 50 to 60 percent of drinking alcohol is genetic (The Alcohol Cost Calculator, 2012). For this reason it would be important that Tony parents be required to go through drug and alcohol treatment as well. This family would benefit from family counseling, one-on-one counseling with a psychologist, or a substance abuse counselor; as well as a 12 step programs to help them learn what a healthy environment is, and how to deal with family issues (Damme, 2012). If there is a strong family support the chances for a successful recovery for everyone involved will be greater.

In order for Tony to be able to move in a new direction to get his life back on the right track it is important for him to get a fresh start, and be placed in a more stable environment. Alcoholism and drug addiction have genetic and environmental consequences for children that live in a house where the parents have an addiction problem. If Tony is in a program whether it is a requirement by the court or if he is seeking help he is going to need strong structure and discipline. I dont think Tonys home environment is stable enough for his recovery. He needs a strong environment where he can learn how to deal with the family issues of having parents that are alcoholics, as well as, accept that he has a drinking and drug problem. I dont feel it would be wise for Tony to stay in the same house with his parent until all of them have completed some form of program, and is in counseling. Tonys parent should be required to participate in his rehab program that way they can interact with any activities as a family, and they will also learn techniques that we help them with their sobriety.
