Poem Response: One Art
Theme: Once you accomplish something it is not a difficult task to repeat it.
By doing something you have a capability to keep on doing it easier and quicker than the time before. And the more you practice this action the more likely you will be able to soon do it without any difficulty whatsoever; you will then have mastered it. I think the author throughout the poem is trying to convey that if you keep doing something over and over again on a daily it wont bring anything but goodness into your life. Considering these lines: “Then practice losing farther, losing fasterNone of these will bring disaster” proves that the theme matches. Also what I got from the ending quatrain, “Its evident the art of losings not too hard to master though it may look like (write it!) like disaster,” is that it may seem like something is hard to master maybe even impossible and end up in a disaster however if you set your mind to it all is achievable and can be obtain in time. In addition, it bring the thought of irony with that phrase making me think that it is saying things are not always they appear. Since the poet mentions, the art of losing looking like it might be hard to master nevertheless in reality it is not too hard to master.
