The Crucible Case
In The Crucible, the characters are faced with the seven deadly sins. The characters that face them the most are the main characters. The characters that face them the most are the main characters: Putnam, Proctor, and Abigail. Thomas Putnam, John Proctor, and Abigail Williams are used to portray the seven deadly sins through avarice and vengeance.

Thomas Putnam is a demanding and greedy man that wanted things to be his way.
Now look you, sir. Let you strike out against the devil and the village will bless
You for it! Come down, speak to them. They’re thirsting for your word, minister!
Surely you’ll pray with them. (Miller I. 18)
Thomas is very demanding of the other characters. He wants them to confess in what he believes, not their personal opinion. Thomas referred to the other characters as striking against the devil, which would cause them to do things that he thought were wrong. Pertaining to greed, Putnam talked to the other characters in any form that he pleased and did not find it wrong. Putnam wants to fulfill his wants and needs instead of worrying about the characters that were around him as he was supposed to. He did not care for what the others wanted; Putnam wanted everything to be the way that he envisioned it. Putnam was willing to force others to do as he wished, just so things would be his way.

John Proctor was a straight forward character throughout the book. He was accused of being involved with Abigail Williams. Although the accusations were true, Proctor hesitated to admit it. “Abby, I may think of you softly from time to time” (I. 24). Proctor tells Abigail that he does think of her at times. Lust is involved in this encounter because Proctor admits to having had feelings for the woman that he had an affair with. Elizabeth
