Motivation is defined as a process that initiates us into achieving our goals. Motivation can be anything, for example, it would motivation to get water to reduce your thirst.

There are three major components to motivation: activation, persistence, and intensity.
Activation: This involves initiating the action. For example, you could be getting up to get water.
Persistence: This is when you continue towards your goal. An example would be continuing to walk downstairs to get water.
Intensity: This can be noticed in how hard you are trying to achieve your goal. For example, this would be how fast you are moving to get the water.
There are two types of motivation which include extrinsic and intrinsic.
Extrinsic: This is when you have an external motivator. An example would be kids, wife, or family.
Intrinsic: This is an internal motivator, and an example of this would be wanting to earn a certain degree for yourself.
The theories of emotions are instincts, drives and needs, and arousal levels.
Instinct: This suggests motivation is driven by instincts.
Drives and needs: This theory states that biological needs drives motivation.
Arousal levels: People engage in activities that help maintain arousal levels. vation
