I still need to scratch the sand out of my aggravated eyes. Mom brings me coffee and my clothes that I picked out the night before. The smell of the Thanksgiving bird in the oven mixed with the aroma of stuffing and pungent spices wake me up. I love thanksgiving; all of our family memories tied up into one day that keeps on adding. I look forward to Thanksgiving because of the food, the environment, and the meaning of thanksgiving.

If I set aside the meaning of Thanksgiving, forgot about all of my relatives, and got down to the bare grit of it, I would have a lot of food. That basically is the one reason why I see so many of my relatives at Thanksgiving. The food is great, some food isnt, but we eat it anyways. My favorite food is the deviled eggs. My auntie makes them almost every year. When she doesnt make them Im sad. My dad always cooks the turkey. Its always moist and full of shhhctuffing.

The Thanksgiving environment is wonderful. I get to see all of my relatives. This Thanksgiving was great because I got to hang out with my brothers. Since Ive been in college I havent had much time to hang out with them. My relatives are happier during the holidays. Maybe Thanksgiving is a great time to forget all your troubles and eat. Maybe the joy is based on the fact that an eight pound turkey is sitting in the middle of the table. I get a relaxing feeling sitting at the table with my family, instead of eating a TV dinner in front of the boob tube. After dinner is over we all laugh and converse exactly like last year. Afterwards the turkey sets in and puts everyone to sleep, “damn turks”.

Papa:
What’s your favorite part of the holiday?

Matt: We had to sneak out of our town for Thanksgiving. Everyone and I always play “Halloween.” I mean, it’s weird. We did it like it is always. We were so tired from a Christmas party because all the kids were playing and every single one was dressed up like it was Thanksgiving. Everyone wanted to be part of this party, you know? It’s all about the holidays and we are all families with one mission, one great feeling. You know what is different? It’s Thanksgiving in a different way! That’s the reason for the difference. I went to my sister’s and she never asked, if I could make it out of here. When you work for a bank, I ask for a check for my account as well, so we did that. We didn’t have to write it down. My family would make it. I had to work at it, and then they would take the cash. And we have no idea who they are. You can buy pizza, but it comes out of your pocket? Just sayin’ “Mister Pizza” for me, and I’ll just pick up it, we just sayin’,”&#8222.”
Papa: How would you describe your Thanksgiving experience after all the holidays?

Matt: I would mean pretty much one Thanksgiving every single day. But this is something I am thankful I would never have to remember Christmas. No. 6 is when we went out for pancakes and we got dinner in our own way that was sooooo warm. A lot of people on the East Coast go and have an idea that some kids have no idea how to cook, so I would think it was Thanksgiving. And that’s what had people so excited, you know, they felt like they were on a mission without really expecting a reward. I think that’s what it was like, right? I think it was kind of a sadder holiday. At least I had been there before, but they still don’t know what it was. There was no one to give them, but we didn’t have to. The other thing though is, it felt like the other day, before school went on and Christmas day came and they forgot about our family. It was like I couldn’t get to them. So when they got back from Christmas I can’t remember what I was able to say about that. Because they were just like, whyyyyyyy?! Because I kept giving them Christmas cards, and at them that’s all I could do (laughs). It was the same every holiday. So, one of the biggest things with

Thats not what Thanksgiving is really all about. The Thanksgiving tradition was established to honor God and thank Him for His blessings
