Mba ProgramThis course is concerned with the formulation of business policies and strategies. It attempts to integrate knowledge acquired in other courses in the M.B.A. program. It considers factors that must be taken into account in determining the mission and strategic objectives of an organization. It also focuses on the design and implementation of strategy to achieve organizational objectives, taking into account external and internal factors and constraints.

The course is a combination of theoretical discussion and case approach. The theoretical part provides a framework for analysis and formulation of policies and strategy. Cases are the application of theory to real situations. A number of different firms in a diverse group of industries is discussed in the course. The emphasis of the course is on decision-making.

The text book used is Crafting and Executing Strategy, by Thompson, Strickland, and Gamble, (TS) 19th Edition. There will also be supplementary readings, including Harvard Business School (HBS) materials. Finally, it is expected that every student will keep up with the current development in the business environment by reading The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, and The Harvard Business Review.knowledge acquired in other courses in the M.B.A. program. A graduate of the B.S. degree program offered at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, this is a course that focuses on the understanding of the structure and functioning of a diverse and agile organization, as well as the management of a large corporate enterprise. The core course is focused on the organization’s business model, from the top down to the bottom-up with emphasis on strategy and organization, as well as the structure and implementation of those strategies over time, resulting in the implementation of key aspects of company strategy, organization efficiency and organization objectives, employee and corporate welfare strategies, and more. The course also examines critical management issues that affect the effectiveness of management. The course presents in detail the organizational models used to help employees understand, analyze, and implement strategies, while also providing a context and rationale for developing such models and using them, as well as highlighting what the organization considers to be unique and important, in its efforts to achieve organizational successes, performance, and overall business success.

This course is not a formal academic course. It is offered after receiving a course degree from an M.M. or M.A., but is available to M.B.As after three years of post-graduate fellowship courses or one semesters of graduate work experience. These courses are primarily interested in the field of management and organizational analysis, and may address the business of managing an organization. In order to receive M.M.* credit, students MUST complete three and/or four credits of the “Management Skills in Operations” (M.M.A.), a three-level course in planning, design, and implementation of effective managerial tools and strategies (M.M.S.), one of which covers management’s most basic components, but this includes not only managing employees, but also personnel, financial and communications, administrative support, communications and management systems, and personnel services and technology (PDT) and other human resource management (HUM).The courses are offered online. The M.B.Ed. program will be offered at the MSU School of Business at 1550 Fifth Avenue NE (map below)—The location of the school (1701 Fifth Avenue at South Fourth Street) is for informational purposes only, no sales, consulting, or any other purpose other than to provide resources to students interested in business management in the community.
