In this computerized era, technology plays a vital role in the growth of commerce and trade around the world. Technology is the practical application of knowledge so that something entirely new can be done or something can be done in a completely new way and it not only increases productivity but also provides a faster, more convenient and more efficient way of performing business transactions. Therefore, using technology is a way for business to succeed. Nike is one of the examples.

Nike is an incorporated company that designs, develops and markets worldwide athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories. In the early 1960s, Nike, originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS), was founded by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. 1972 was the first year of using the famous mark known as the Swoosh on Nikes first line of footwear and it officially became Nike in 1978. The Nike’s Air technology (Fig.1) was launched successfully in the Tailwind running shoe in 1979. Nikes Air technology which used a gas-filled bag of air inserted in the sole of the shoe to cushion the impact of running and these technologically advanced air-soles had created a good foundation for which further Nike advancements are based on. Thankfully, it has contributed to the growing popularity of the companys products throughout the USA and Nike’s revenues surpassed $ 1 billion for the first time in 1986.

In the course of time, Nike entered into the global market and it became such an innovative brand and one of the market leaders in sports technologies. New materials and technologies were constantly coming out all the time. Nike Dri-FIT technology (Fig.2), the science behind the moisture-absorbing line of fabrics, was used by Nike to make athletic apparel.
