so, we will just briefly explain how the things work. The exercise is performed so that team members locate themselves in specific segments, and, based on current locations, they have to identify the ways of relocating themselves to higher (better) segments if available. The segments are depicted on DISC Team Map. Each segment covers some specific personality traits and qualities as well as attributes, so that each team member will get a broad picture of his/her current situation and also identify the ways of how to improve it. Based on our own team analysis using DISC model, we have came up with the following suggestions:
a) Team members should spend more time together, face-to-face, in order to get closer on personal levels and learn as much information as possible about each members working style. For all this, it would be nice to arrange more of social activities events, some sessions on specific topics as well as off-site meetings.
b) Team members should be more open in sharing successes and failures as well as learn how to provide unbiased/fair feedback and give credit to others at the same time.
c) Finally, every member has to admit his/her vulnerability and limitations
The next personality profiles instrument (tool) is MBTI. It seems that MBTI is the most preferred instrument for overcoming absence of trust as per Patrick Lencioni. He called MBTI “The Foundation, tool with greatest validity and reliability”. To recap, MBTI assists team members in engaging in conversations in order for them to better acknowledge the similarities and diversity of their individual types and working styles. Such an understanding is fundamental in overcoming absence of trust. Now, first of all, we will definitely suggest the team leader consider using this tool, because it is him who sets the things that team members follow.
