Philosophy of Education
Education is a life long process whereby we gain an understanding in all areas of our life and of our world. We are constantly confirming information that we already know and learning new information everyday to add to our pot of knowledge. In my opinion, the purpose of education is to facilitate learning, gain a greater understanding of everything we encounter in life, and broaden the mind.

While learning formally or informally, students should be serious about their education. They should know that the importance of why we must learn is revealed to us later in life when we are faced with applying or using the information we have gained. They should be as a sponge and absorb and as much knowledge and skills as they can. They must be involved, active participants when learning. It is important for students to feel like they are in charge of themselves and their education because ultimately, they are responsible for what they attain. The ideal learning environment is one in which students feel that they want to learn.

For the teacher, the role is multifaceted. The teacher is the responsible authority and must assure that learning is taking place. The teacher is the decision maker and must be competent in all aspects of knowledge about learning to formulate appropriate decisions. The teacher is the disciplinarian and must maintain a manageable classroom focused on a task-oriented environment. The teacher is the timekeeper and must make sure that the students are using time properly so that they can be successfully engaged in their academic learning time most of the day. The teacher must be sensible, understanding, and should create a passion to teach any student rather than disregarding certain persons.

As far as curriculum is concerned, most of what we learn is taught in school. The students should be learning relevant information that will help them attain
