Patrick Martin Stumph was born on April 27th, 1984 in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Stumph has served as the frontman and composer of Fall Out Boy since 2001 and held a solo career in which he was the frontman, ensemble, composer, and lyricist for his album Soul Punk. His early career began when he joined Fall Out Boy in 2001 as the drummer. As time went on his band mates discovered his amazing vocal talent and made him the frontman and rhythm guitarist. He began composing the music to go with what lyrics Pete Wentz was putting out.

After replacing Stump’s former drumming position with Andy Hurley, the band released their second album, Take This To Your Grave, which was mostly composed by Stump. Stump went on to compose the rest of the band’s albums (From Under the Cork tree, Infinity on High, Folie A Deux) until the band called a break in 2008. Not wanting to stop the compositional flow that came so naturally to him, Stump created a name for himself when he composed Soul Punk an album in which he sang and played every instrument for. After the return of the Fall Out Boys, Stump focused mainly on composing music for projects unrelated to what they were putting out for Fall Out Boy. Stump composed music for Big Hero 6, All Time Low, Krewella, and New Politics amongst other big name artists who seeked out his expertise.

Patrick Stump has worked behind the scenes to compose music for many artists, movies, and shows in the 2000’s and is one of the hardest working non-classical composers of the 21st century. He has covered styles from angsty punk rock and smooth soul music and many genres in between even having worked with some of the most raunchy rap artists there are today. Stump has an immense and rather impressive portfolio that comes as a surprise to most.
