The Vietnam War was a rather nasty war. This was a time of great disappear and no confidence in the government. It was tough times for the US and at first it looked like there was no end in sight. The students of this era revolted against the government because they believed that they were going nowhere fast. In this paper I hope to explain in detail the era of the this war and portray the effect of the war and show those who are not familiar with it, just how bad it was. I hope to describe the connection between student unrest and the Vietnam War, noting how each affected the other. I will also be explaining the political and social outcomes of the end of the Vietnam War. First I would like to discuss the student unrest over the war.

Fathers, Brothers, Sons, Uncles, Friends, and other loved ones were being killed at an alarming rate. By the end over 50,000 of our people were taken in a bloody long war that turned a lot of people over in the US against its own nation. It sparked protest, strikes, and a lot of unnecessary violence. (Bexte, 2002) The students did not want the war to continue. They started teach-ins and started groups like SDS (Students for Democratic Society). The Marched in Washington and flew peace banners. This revolt snow balled till eventually till, like I said, violence rang out on the street. Rebellions against officers of the law and shootings stirred major unrest in the city streets and on campuses. These anti-war movements even reached the soldiers in the war. The rebelled by wearing peace signs and refusing to take orders. There was an effect of this of the government as well. (Bexte, 2002)

Though the students were in rebellion they were actually having a sort of positive effect on politics. It was bringing a rise to democratic and liberal parties. This was not something that was necessarily a positive effect on the country but a positive effect in the politicians eyes. They would actually use the peace movement in their favor. They would use these tactics in their campaign for office. They would promise such things like an end to the war and help rebuilding Vietnam. (Pike, 2002)

The social standings then at this time had divided among three major groups. These were in fact the groups that started a lot of the big riots and marched in protest. These groups were the anti-war, anti-government, as well as the pro-war groups. Among these the people made extreme effort to try and sustain the peace in all countries. (Pike, 2002)

All of this said that time of war was one of the harder ones for America to bite off and chew. We sustained many blows as far as people that were killed. So many lifes were lost and for what cause? So that the US can be considered the “Peace makers? This was why I believed that Johnson was involved and not to stop communism. I think that most of our countries decisions are based on what is going to make us look good. I truly believe that
