Dear Annie,
How do you do? Its been ages since we last talked. I miss your company and having you as a neighbor. The reason Im writing to you today is to inform you about something tragic which happened on my own street. You remember Minnie Foster dont ya? Well, you wouldnt believe what shes done.

Shes in jail for life for strangling her husband to death. Who wouldve thought that she would do something like that? I dont know if you still remember her from our childhood, but she was so full of life and she had such a beautiful voice. Remember when she wore a white dress with blue ribbons and stood up with the choire and sang? If you met her recently, you wouldnt have believed that it was the same woman who committed the crime.

It seems like her life was dull and full of sorrow. Maybe if I went to her house regularly and spent time with her, this wouldnt have happened. Although many cant believe that she wouldve done something like this, I went to her house after she got arrested to collect some of her belongings and it was clear through her half-baked bread, poorly-knitted quilt and the strangled bird that we found that she committed the crime. It seems that she was nervous while quilting and not focused enough to finish her daily work. Also, the strangled bird seems like a clear motive as to why Minnie wouldve killed her husband.

I have something on my conscious which I have to let out; I stole the dead bird because I dont believe that Minnie should be punished for her crime. Its unfair how woman are treated in this society and Minnies husband clearly had it coming.

Anyways, I hope youre doing well and you should visit soon.
Mrs. Hale
