1. Why did Rahab become a “traitor” to her own people (see vv 9-13)? Where in the New Testament is she mentioned and why?
Rahab became a traitor to her own people because she hid the spies that came into her land that they were going to take over. Rahab is mentioned again in the NT in James chapter two verse twenty five. She was mentioned because James was saying that people are justified by their actions as well as their heart.
2. What miracle did God perform at the banks of the Jordan River and what impact did it have upon Joshuas leadership (Joshua 3-4)?
The miracle that God did at the banks of the Jordan river was He let the priests who were carrying the arc of the covenant to pass through while the waters heaped up and stopped flowing from upstream. He took charge of the God given authority that he was anointed with, and he gained Israels respect.
3. Read the story of Achan in Joshua 7-8: Who was Achan? What did he do and why? What were the consequences for Israel for Achan and his family? What lesson was Joshua teaching us from this story?
Achan was the son Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah. Achan disobeyed Gods command when He told them not to take anything from the temple of the place they destroyed and he stole riches from it. Joshua was told to find the person who did this and to kill him. God told him to burn him (7-15.) The lesson in this story is to always obey God and that the wages of sin is death.
4. What ploy did the Gibeonites use to save their lives (see Joshua 9)? Why didnt Israel destroy
