Bullying….. ChangeSoc 312: Child, Family, and SocietyThere are many ways how bullying can be a big part of any students life. It is very important to understand as a teacher that bullying can be hidden from teachers and parents if it happens in places with less adult supervision. Bullying can be direct, verbal, or physical. As a teacher it is very important to understand how these changes in students affect them and how it can also harm another human being. However, to understand the different type of bullying, he or she must know when it comes. Direct bullying involves tactics perpetrated overtly against the victim, such as physical and verbal bullying. Physical bullying includes physical aggression, such as hitting, kicking, pushing, spitting, stealing, and using weapons. Verbal bullying includes hurting one another with words, such as name calling, teasing, or making racial or ethnic slurs. In “The Bully in the Mirror” a boy name Antonio writes about how his struggle as a 4th grade student with bullying and needs help to stop with his bad behavior. As  has been his teacher, I am going to help Antonio by giving him and students  important lesson and activity on how to prevent bullying and how to face bullying when it comes. However, as a teacher in this situation, I will use a  strategy which will also involve his parents  to help Antonio in order to stay on the right path. First, I want to focus on the importance of awareness and bully prevention as an activity that will benefit Antonio and the class as a whole. The best thing for students who are bullied can do is to get help from parents, teachers, or other adults to try and find better ways of interacting with others. The first activity that my students will do is take a pledge which is all about how the students promising to speak up, reach out, and be a friend when they see bullying. In order to do this first he or she would have to answer this question: Tell us why you care? The students will have to write a short paragraph  and explain their answer and then sign their name and make the pledge. However, this is a great way to let every student learn and understand what is bullying and how each students can help with preventing bullying by taking the pledge by signing the pledge.  An example of a pledge: I care about bullying because if someone else gets bullied I feel like I am getting bullied and that is a painful situation. This example was written by a 7 year old girl named Aiyanna. Second, what can schools do to stop bullying with also involving parents. The school can conduct an intensive all inclusive evaluation to reveal the degree that tormenting is an issue in your school. Utilize numerous routines to gather data. Consider directing staff overviews and mysterious understudy studies, encouraging understudy and guardian center gatherings on the theme of harassing, examining the example of understudy disciplinary referrals to check whether tormenting examples develop, have grownups watch and record tormenting practices in less-managed settings, for example, the cafeteria and on the play area, and so on. Pool this data to distinguish huge examples of tormenting (for instance, where and when harassing happens to happen most every now and again; which understudies seem to participate in tormenting conduct and which are deceived by spooks, and so on.) Next, Achieve agreement as a staff about how your school characterizes tormenting and when instructors ought to mediate to keep harassing from happening. Rates of school harassing drop essentially when all staff individuals have the capacity to recognize the indications of tormenting and consent to intercede reliably at whatever point they watch hazardous, rude, or destructively practices. Incorporate a “menu” of fitting results that instructors can force on understudies who spoke. This menu ought to incorporate lesser results that may be given for minor demonstrations of tormenting (e.g., gentle teasing) and more stringent outcomes for more genuine or endless tormenting (e.g., exacting physical damage, annoying a casualty for quite a long time). Train staff to utilize the outcomes menu to guarantee decency and consistency when they intercede with spooks. Last, Build up a strategy for reaching the parent(s) of an understudy who has occupied with tormenting. At the guardian meeting, school staff ought to endeavor to enroll the guardian to work with them to stop the understudys tormenting. On the off chance that the guardian denies that an issue exists or declines to collaborate to end the kids tormenting conduct, the guardian ought to be told obviously that the school will screen the youngsters conduct nearly and will make suitable disciplinary strides if future harassing occurrences happen. Screen the schools domineering jerk aversion endeavors on a progressing premise to check whether they have indeed decreased the measure of tormenting among understudies and enhanced the passionate atmosphere of the building. The school can utilize the same checking systems to track advances in spook anticipation as were initially used to evaluate the starting reality of the harassing issue (e.g., center gatherings, studies, direct perception, following of disciplinary referrals). Offer these outcomes intermittently as an advancement report with school staff, folks, and understudies to assemble inspiration all through the school group for your building harasser anticipation activity. However, the strategy that I will use to help Antonio with bullying others and help students is by setting clear and enforceable rules and expectations, reward positive behavior, have open communication, engage parents, look for warning signs, when bullying occurs, clear the scene and have a clear definition of bullying.By me as the teacher following these steps can help Antonio to overcome bullying. Correspond with parents about their youngsters conduct—whether their kid is a culprit of or on the less than desirable end of harassing conduct—can be dubious. In this manner instructors and staff need to fabricate affinity with the folks of their understudies. Keeping parents educated about their tykes evaluations, companions, conduct, and even demeanors in school is an essential apparatus when tending to practice. Cooperating, parents and instructors can give a steady way to deal with present more beneficial and suitable substitution practices. This makes the message more prone to sink in and stay with the tyke. It can even help the kid perceive when another youngster is being tormented or is a domineering jerk (US Department of Health and Human Services). In the urban zones, a few parents may have had a troublesome time with schools in the past and may sense an absence of association and trust in the school staff. Staff ought to show parents how their school has changed or is changing, and that each understudy is given a chance to succeed. You can pass on this message by sending welcomes for diverse occasions or by having the parents play a particular and dynamic part of their youngsters life (Mahoney, 2012). To help connect with difficult to-achieve parents, search for important sparks to draw them into the examine.
