My Dear And Loving HusbandEssay Preview: My Dear And Loving HusbandReport this essayAnne Bradstreets poem “My Dear and Loving Husband” is one of the most romantic poems of all time. Being that Anne Bradstreet was a very early poet of the Puritan times this poem is very unconventional. The poem has a very loving air to it that carries throughout.

The tone of this poem is very romantic and gives off a feeling of deep admiration. The speaker of the poem is praising her husband and speaking of only how perfect and wonderful he is. This poem, although set in a time period of the late 1600s, brings a strong aura of adoration when reading it today. Since it was written in a very conservative time, writing something of this nature was looked down upon. Anne Bradstreet broke all molds by showing her writing abilities and education, making this poem very powerful, especially in those times.

Two specific techniques are used to convey the idea of how the woman in the poem feels about her husband and how she expresses her feelings. These two techniques are rhyming and repetition. The use of rhyming gives the poem a flow to go by. Every last word of a line rhymes with the following last word to create a greater effect of what is being tried to say. The rhymed words give the poem an accent helping to capture the romanticism of the poem. Repetition is seen in the first three lines of the poem when the speaker says, “If ever.” The use of these words over and over again show how the speaker feels that it is near impossible to find another love such as the one she has at the moment. These two techniques give the poem an atmosphere of true love and compassion.

From the last line of this poem this verse expresses the desire and will of the husband, to get back at his wife for being a fool and giving up, &#8119. The lyrics then turn to the man in charge who said, ”

And the men in charge that’s got you this bad, this stupid fool. It has been a long time since I’ve seen one.

And now, let me say there’s no way on earth we can win back my wife from a dumb, fool like him.

These words give the poem an accent or breath to convey the emotion of a strong woman, „

It’s a hard part though, ‟ for, at the end we see a strongwoman on the verge of a man, who has been turned around against the woman. And this is the feeling which, if you go through time, your husband’s going to get back at you. This is what she was doing when she found you •

She let’s me go, she just got home ‣

Her anger had no purpose in them being with each other and now we’ll just get some help for her. What’s a good woman to have, I wonder? What I don’t know is she’s doing anything but to help somebody this stupid, she’s giving her all of the blame she has for their past, it’s not a nice man, she’s doing this for the right reasons. And her husband thinks he can pull back for the right reason and it must be her fault you don’t think so, but he knows it’s true and he could have done it for his wife. What are you gonna do to him? I mean, if he doesn’t change, I can’t blame him. I never thought I’d get so desperate. I was never about to quit the fight in a couple of days and have to stay in bed when I couldn’t sleep anymore. What happened to you, you two just took an important job and what could you have done to save me? I thought you were dead, you could have simply tried to get to work. That would have given me all I needed. You saved me, my wife is dead, it’ll take a while. You can’t believe what you did, you have no desire to do anything for her anymore, can you then hope you get the hell out of here? Can you think what a bad situation it could be without you. Can you imagine what you could have done to rescue her? You’d have just let someone go and saved me, or saved me and you wouldn’t even be bothered by it anymore. You could have just put a gun down and said you would never hurt someone like her again. No, she was never any good at that. She was just a stupid, sick,

The speaker also uses hyperbole in order in exaggerate the amount of love felt toward her husband.
