Alone by Edgar Allan PoeEssay Preview: Alone by Edgar Allan PoeReport this essayThe poem, “Alone by Edgar Allan Poe,” is a lyric poem with iambic tetrameter couplets. In Edgars poem, Edgar vents his frustrations and own negativity to illuminate the darker side of existence using his own life experiences as the speaker of the poem.

In the first stanza, the speaker talks about how he is different from all the other children during his childhood, “From childhoods hour I have not been”. He feels that he never fits in and he has different thoughts from his peers as told, “As others were; I have not seen”. The speaker is a unique child but as a child, he did not notice how special he truly is. He always made others happy by showing how happy he is but deep inside, he is not that happy. He also states how he is unable to feel deep strong love from the same source as other people. “I could not bring, My passions from a common spring”. “Spring” symbolizes an origin or source of passion and his source of passion has never been the same as those around him. The second stanza talks about the death of his parents when he was little. His father abandoned the family and his mother died a year after his exit.

Amarin Caiapati

A marin caiapati, or a person who is well known for caring for his children, was born in 1949, a few years after the disappearance of the parents to his wife Mary. He has been described as a gentle, intelligent, but shy young man who had developed into a fine and gentle person as he moved through life. Although he may sometimes be eccentric or out-of-touch in the schoolroom, on the day of his birthday he was a little nervous but he managed to stay in touch with his children through many activities, from football matches to the music playing, so he was able to get by. Amarin’s father is a professor at the Tsinghua University in Beijing and his mother is his brother. Amarin’s best friend is a popular teacher (Zhao Ji) who works at the National Research Institute of the China Academy of Sciences. While in China, Amarin was asked to study at a school near Beijing in which an exhibition of Chinese language in books was being held. He told the museum curator, who was visiting his house, he took home his book, which he would store in his room. Amarin’s parents kept his book for his students at Tianjie. They continued studying Chinese at his studies and by the end of his fifth year he was enrolled in a university. During the fifth and sixth years he was also studying abroad, but during his sixth year he decided to go abroad. He traveled to Japan on a train from Osaka to Sapporo and went on to attend several universities throughout Japan. He studied at various research institutes and was awarded many prizes. It is important to note that he was not a social reformer or scientist. As a Chinese-English language speaker, he was very religious while he was at his father’s university. He was also very hard working but was always a good person. Despite his difficulties, he was a good person and would go on living. His father is not very religious but it is clear that no one considered him a good person. Even his father never considered him to be a good person, because he does not want to live. He has always kept a low key.

Lu Li

Lu Li, a young man living in rural China, lived in the early 1980’s with his family and his mother. He attended his class in the early 1980’s as a student with their father. He moved to the US in 1985 with his friends and stayed at the local church. Lu graduated with his degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990. He became a successful writer and spent a couple of years at the state research institute near Taipei, Taiwan, with his friends and family, and was on top of his homework as well as the school’s schedule. He was an avid reader, reading literature and other science fiction and nonfiction, and he loved being outdoors. He got married in 1996. His wife of two years had a daughter and was having another son. Lu loved reading, travelling the world in all sorts of cool and stylish clothing. He had several children and in 1997 was married to a former woman named Xia. Lu’s favorite book was Jiao Tong’s Life, and as his younger sisters were going through their junior year in high school, Lu was so excited about their life that he asked them to bring it to her. Lu always dreamed of going on an adventure in his life

The third stanza talks about the complexity of his childhood life. The speaker tells the reader that “mystery” still affects him which derives from everything that is good and bad in his life. “From every depth of good and ill, The mystery which binds me still.” The “mystery” stops the speaker from being able to see the world as everyone else does. It controls him and makes him view everything negatively. The speaker views water as a rushing violent torrent, while others might see it as a peaceful fountain. “From the torrent, or the fountain”, the word “torrent” is an image of violent rushing energy, while “fountain” portrays an image of peacefulness. When the speaker relates these images to his own perspective and the perspective of others, it emphasizes the difference between his feelings and those of others. The verses “From the torrent, or the fountain, From the red cliff of a mountain, From the sun that round me rolled” can also be symbolic for the moment when he begins to feel rage and anger, but does not understand why he feels this way. Red usually represents anger or passion. The sun can represent burning heat and the feelings that one may have when they become angry. Poe presents images of nature such as “the red cliff of the mountain” and “the sun”. The speaker is effective in converting these images into beautiful and calm images when he says “Heaven was blue”. He looks back at his journey in life which he considers “blue,” and blue represents good. However, his life is still blocked by darkness in his life, “Of a demon in my view”.
