Trends in Organizational Behavior
Everything in life is based on making some sort of a decision. Whether it is to either wake up and go to work in the morning instead of sleeping in, or to splurge and buy that brand new convertible Mercedes Benz rather than being practical and purchasing a car more economical, we are making decisions each and every day. Since decision-making is so common in our day-to-day lives, why is it still so hard to make them on a consistent basis? The increased stress that everyday life has to offer makes it even harder to function and to be 100% mentally capable of making a concise decision. In this essay I would like to discuss some trends in organizational behavior, such as the influence of ethics in decision-making, and the impact of technology on work-related stress.

Decision-Making
As far as I am concerned, one of the most important decisions that I regularly have to make concerns my job. Being that I work in a customer service and sales environment, the situation that commonly arises in which I have to make the best practical decision deals with professional work ethics. Any decision I make could either lead to a promotion, or termination from the company. By understanding both the decision making process that pertains to ethics, as well as using critical thinking, I can utilize those skills not only to excel at work, but also on a personal level.

It wasnt until I switched managers that I made the decision that I could achieve so much more within the company. My new manager pushed and pushed until I grasped the concept of achieving excellence.

With all the pressure at work, sometimes it was difficult to utilize critical thinking in making important decisions. When no one can help you because everyone is busy, and you have limited time, making a quick decision seemed like the only option. I felt that I didnt have time to plot out different scenarios to come up with rational answers to problems, and that gave me a nonchalant attitude towards my job. What I had to realize was that instead of giving up, I had to overcome the adversity that I was facing. Thinking of demanding situations that I face off the job, I had to figure out how I dealt with those situations. I feel that making similarities between common tasks and difficult ones helps me to think critically towards the task at hand because it takes away the fear of the unknown.

Work-Related Stress
Stress from work is a daily issue that has to be resolved at my job. Back to back calls from angry, irate customers is never something that is looked forward to by my co-workers. With all that we have to deal with while dealing with customers, nothing else needs to add additional
