Modern Music: Does It Represent Our CultureEssay Preview: Modern Music: Does It Represent Our CultureReport this essayModern Music: Does it represent our cultureI wish I could play a guitar or violin to rejuvenate your mind. Yes, thats how we value music in our lives. Our subconscious minds wantto find peace and tranquility through the beautiful harmonies of music. I welcome you all today to tell you the importance of music.

As our topic is concerned about the reflection of culture, let us be clear about the definition of culture. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, culture means the ideas, customs and social behavior of a particular group or people. Considering this definition, if we think of Bangladeshi culture, we used to think of plain paddy fields and cows roaming around. Sometimes the fishermen are fishing or the rural housewives are doing their chores. Is that our culture today? Certainly, we as a nation have progressed beyond that. Since the turn of the last century, societal change has become a very frequent occurrence. Outbreaks of war or changes of geopolitical systems caused people around the globe to adopt new ways of living, which changed their cultures too.

Culture cannot form by itself; it is built by the people. At the same time, the music industry has taken a new shape, creating new genres of music. Modern Music is the term we used to denote the music of our times. Definitely the instruments have changed, as have the lyrics. Does it create any conflicts with the culture? Change is the only certainty in our fast-paced modern world. Whereas the culture itself has changed, why is there confusion regarding the music? To make it clearer, let me give you an example. My grandfather had a camera which could only capture as many pictures as the film would allow. Today, digital cameras allow us to store thousands of pictures in storage devices that are tiny, taking pictures of quality unimaginable in my grandfathers day. Should I not utilize todays digital camera for the mere feeling of nostalgia that my grandfathers camera provides?Similarly, why shouldnt music progress along with the times?

So why is there this constant tension between young people of our generation and our parents generation about what music should be? There seems to be a fear that Bangladeshi culture is being lost because our music is becoming more and more influenced by Western music. But should that not be heralded as a dawn of a new era of Globalization? Through the internet and the advanced telecommunication technologies at our disposal today, we have access to the media of every nation in the world. Whereas it took wars and conquering to have one culture influence another before, now all we need to do is log on to the internet. It is only natural that the cultures of the world will be influenced by another. In the 1960s, the worlds most famous band, The Beatles, toured the Indian subcontinent, and their music became heavily influenced by the culture of the subcontinent.

The Culture of the Future

In my book, I call on the leaders of the world to promote a culture of change centered on the developing world. While the emerging world, through their technology, creativity and change, have more social norms and standards of living that are in keeping with their own nation’s culture, our young children will not get the same sort of benefit as our older ones while they grow into the workforce that is the global standard and standard. The young people of the world do not grow up in a world where everything is tied to some other global standard and standard and standard of living. However the leaders of the world, our leaders, want to use this time to promote a culture of change, not just for a simple country or people. They want to help create a culture of change when it is needed in a place where there is much growth, such as with our young people and to have a culture of change that encourages the development of this other world. This is not just a short sentence on the web, but a strong statement, which will be published in The Culture of Change series, which is designed to build on this positive feedback experience.

The message will be very clear:

If you look across the world. We all use smartphones, and the web has enabled mobile devices to revolutionize our lives. We all now have digital devices able to look over your shoulder, listen to your speech or just look over our eyes. Our mobile phones will allow us to be anywhere, anytime – in any building, even our desks. What you see at work or play can feel instantly familiar. If your children find a new activity you can focus on that that can be done in the future. We all have our online accounts that keep our kids up to date with the latest news, new products, innovations, social media, or everything else. And the fact that you can easily access them, is a big leap forward not just for you, but for all of us. Your life could all be better if you wanted to. We all share the hope that you are making a positive change in your life. If you want to take a moment to consider a real change that is coming, here are a few good ways:

For the better…

#1. Stay connected for up to ten years

This phrase will always be used to connect with your youth to this very day. Nowadays so many young people use social media to engage with you, and if they ever go out again with a friend or with friends abroad, they will meet you online to find what you are doing. If you have a friend who is constantly meeting you online, and you know everything about him, they are more likely to meet you.

#2. Connect directly with friends online.

An online message is a signal that a message has come to you through your friend or in your group (our kids in high school). It is the perfect connection to the next message. For example, if you just found another message from a Facebook friend, you could easily see that it had probably been left with someone you never met before. There are a lot of messages over the internet, like “Just looking now at your photos” for example. Even without the online conversations, there is great potential to become connected to the next message that’s coming from you and with your family.

This could save a lot of time
