Media technology is here to stay and has become a permanent part of our lives. But there is great anxiety about how it may be affecting our lives. We live in an era where technology has taken over each of our lives and the life of our children, things such as smartphones, videogames, tablets, are the new trends. What happened to riding bicycles, kicking a ball outside, and just simply enjoying the outdoors? Are the parents to be blame for this, or is the media to be blame for it?
Technology is a way of life. It may change in appearance from day to day but it’s a constant that makes lives easier and let’s not forget more fun as well. Thanks to the Internet and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, you can now interact with people around the world instantly. Social networking has given people the opportunity to peer beyond their immediate lives and glimpse a huge worldwide network with all its political, social and ethical issues.
Cyberbullying is a big issue when it comes to technology, because like any form of bullying is social aggression. It is intended to make the victim feel frightened, humiliated, helpless and too often hopeless. Technology has made it possible for us to connect with people all over the world; to share ideas; to learn; to spread awareness of issues and even to enact change. Nonetheless, we must consider that sometimes too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. We all need to start taking responsibility for ourselves and to stop abusing what could be the most beneficial innovations of the technological age.
I believe technology is both good and bad, because as it was explained in the article it is an advancement that not only betters our lives but it is also taking over our lives. Our world today is changing fast due to the introduction and upgrading of technology. Most people say technology has brought positive results because of the improving social well being in our societies. However, there are people who are skeptical about the positive changes that technology has brought about. One can say that it is good because it has increased our life expectancy and so on, but a lot of our creativity has been taken away from us because the machine can do it for us. I think technology like all advancements has good uses, but must be used responsibly.
