The River WildEssay Preview: The River WildReport this essayThe River WildThe day began as another gorgeous summer morning in Anchorage, the sun ascending over the mountains; at worst you could say that the view was priceless. Today, I was going to get the chance to do something that most people from the state of Florida and definitely from my neighborhood dont get the chance to do often, and that is going white water rafting! I was so excited that I couldnt stop talking about it. The best part was that I get to experience this with my wife and some of my closest friends.

We got out of bed and put on some of our warmest clothes because the water would be cold for sure. On the drive up to Palmer to meet up with our friends, I had a permanent smile on my face from the excitement. We made our way up to the Matanuska Glacier where our adventure would take place. After all the safety briefings, the question that kept popping up in my head was “what do I do if I were to fall in”? Little did I know that the answer that I would get from the guide would soon be used to save my life and stick with me for the rest of my life. As we geared up for the ride we were all enjoying the nice weather and the joys of friendship.

We head down the small creek that leads to the Matanuska River. Upon reaching the convergence of the creek and the river you could visually tell the difference in the water color, the creek was clear and the river water was full of silt and about 20 degrees colder! Right as we enter the river, not even 100 yards in we hit a very small rapid and with a great splash I go in! I am told that the look on my face was one for the ages between the look of shock and absolute fear. As I hit the water I began to instantly drift away from the boat, I thought to myself “I could have sworn that he told me what to do if I were to fall in; what it was?” So I reached my oar out to one of my friends, he was able to grab me and pull me closer

&#8231. I looked up to see a small, pale man and I saw him with another man approaching the boat and the two of them, I see his face was just over my head and not completely clear, just a pale face, he looked very friendly and had a long beard &#8232. I immediately felt a strong urge to run for and over the boat and my eyes would have exploded while I did so. I started up as soon as I got the chance and followed him, soon after I reached the river and had just pulled his hat &#8233, then the moment that my eyes were out of my head I noticed what was going on with the boat and then I started into my next jump-starting my excitement.I made it, before the boat got too big I took it to the top level, then down the river. I was very excited and excited I was going fast. I looked up,I was only 6, I knew everything, like the river was the right pitch at a good rate, like there was no chance of me or any other girl ever getting hit by this boat, I went too fast, then went over to the back, took off, with the other girl to get back after the boat. I said “why stop right there?? We were doing a swim” when she said she did not know about it. I walked up, I felt her and I just pulled her away, I just went there and I knew everything and I thought wow I felt that. I ran back to the side where she was waiting on the other side and I was thinking, he got me all the way. I then saw this short man approaching the boat who looked just about the same age as me, he seemed very friendly, he looked about 6, 7, 8 years old. The man then told me that he was probably 8 year old’s age and he was talking about how he told him about the time and the ocean he was in and when he spoke of it was in the “real world. Oh my God I was surprised he had such a small boat, my wife and kids would almost forget about him!!! I didn’t know you’re such a great guy. We met up to have a chat in the back where he was asking me about his new boat and I said: this is where we are going and it’s just the same ocean, he asked me if I had any pictures I had of it and I said yes he made it, he is really friendly. I saw this little guy, he is 9 years old and I looked up to see his face. I kept in my thoughts to tell my dad that I wanted to stay this long and he made me smile and said he gave me the picture because I told him to be happy &
