Back hundreds of years ago, there wasnt such thing that blacks and whites neither played together, went to school together, nor having relationships with each other. As the years has gone by and the world started taking a stand for freedom, that has all changed. The world is now mixed communities everywhere we look, same schools we have blacks and whites that sit beside each other, and neighbors are different races. So how has the world back before different cultural were able to do things together?

Country Lovers, by Nadine Gordimer is a parable short story that is written based on South Africa. Nadine Gordimer was born and raised in South Africa and this writing is based on her fighting for politics. The cultural factors in this short story were how blacks and whites were not suppose to be together and if they were caught it would be trouble.Country Lovers was a tragedy short story due to the murder of the baby at the end of the story. The Country Lovers plot starts out going good and ends up with a tragedy. Country Lovers is about a black girl named Thebedi and a young white boy named Paulus. The two used to play together until Paulus goes to school and the only time they get to see each other is when he comes home from school. When Paulus reached the age of 18 he would have Thebedi over to the house when his parents were away so they could spend time and have sexually active. While Paulus was away finishing up his schooling, Thebedi got married and shortly after had a child. When Paulus returned and discovered what had happen, he was upset. Unsure how the baby died, Paulus could have been the one to have murdered the baby not knowing the baby was his child.

The Welcome Table, by Alice Walker is another parable short story but is told in a third person point of view. This short switches back and forth between the white characters to the black characters. This short story uses stereotypes relevant to an aging black lady. The plot in the this short story keeps the attention of the reader, due to wondering what the older black lady will do, will she stay or let the white people run her
