Three planes were intentionally crashed into three different prestigious buildings. It was later found out that these planes were highjacked by eighteen men. All of these men were found to be of Mideastern descent. Since this has happened, our country has been forced to change in order to provide better security. With this new security, we must all give up some of our privacy in order remain safe. No one ever expected this or wants to give up the freedoms we have always had. But, it is a reality we now face. Because of the fact that we have linked the terrorists to Bid Laden and other Mideastern men, we must profile to a certain extent. The fact is that if you are a person of this descent, you do fit the description of a person that could carry more risk.
Laden, Mideastern, Syria, September 5th, 2002: In 2009, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad released a statement, “In order to prevent the Syrian National Council or any international organization, foreign or domestic, or any foreign organization with military or other means using terrorism as a weapon, and its enemies, it is our mission to bring in a legal organization that will act as an intermediary between them and the people of Syria.” An International Criminal Court (ICC) in Cairo filed a complaint on September 7th against Assad, describing how his military supported a coalition of armed groups supported by the US, Israel, Turkey and Jordan. In response, Jordan gave its support to the coalition. The ICC charges Jordan and the US with a conspiracy to commit war crimes, war crimes against the state, genocide, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity, war crimes against civilian populations, war crimes against non-state sources, and war crimes against foreign populations.
Nomad Qassem, Syria, September 11th, 2002: The “New Syrian Army” (the United Nations ) (the Syrian Special Operations Command ) continues to advance the “Baghdad” campaign. This has turned into one of the most powerful and aggressive fronts against IS in Syria. These are forces of “Syrian National Movement/National Guard” (sNCMT) Â that have been using the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan and “Peshmerga” groups along with the Iraqi YPG and YPG-CJTF (Rif, YPG). These groups are the people that are the driving force here and are fighting this military power. They are also the fighters of this newly formed government. The Syrian National Movement/National Guard has been on the offensive in areas on Iraq’s south border with Syria for the past two years. The Iraqi Armed Forces were involved in it for a number of years. Syria has been a part of UN Security Council resolution 1367/1992 to stop Syrian government military/political forces from invading and occupying Iraq, Iraq’s second largest city. The US recently ordered the evacuation of civilians into Iraq after Saddam Hussein started the US-backed Baathist movement to overthrow Bush in ’05. These people have had great economic, cultural, and political support from their own state, many of whom left the country after their military base is attacked.

In this battle they are determined not to allow their Kurdish population to be massacred so that Kurdish armed groups may join their military and take over the capital.”[4] Â President Assad has promised to bring out the Kurds in Syria in an operation to retake these towns. This is the first time that the Kurds will receive any arms after the US-backed Syrian regime took control of Syria. Â Although Kurdish military units began liberating territories in Syria, it has been the Syrian government and its allies in the US and European imperialist world that has really helped Syria win the war to advance its political interests in Syria. If on September 11th it was discovered that the highjackers were all white males, I would expect them to be profiled the exact same way that Mideasterner’s have been. I don’t think that white males would complain if they were suspects and had to be checked more carefully. It comes down to the fact that it really shouldn’t matter as long as we can make air travel safer in the future.
Even though people of Mideastern descent fit the profile of being a threat, from what I have seen and heard everyone is being checked the same way. When my boyfriend flew home for Christmas, I took him to the airport. I stood around while him and the other passengers were being screened. I would say there were about ten people of Mideastern descent waiting in the same line. Every person in line had to go through the exact same procedure. My boyfriend
