Self-Love
The canon that self-love is much identical with selfishness and the fact that self-love has pervaded all the aspects of individual’s life ranging from marriage to the overall association with people for years has pervaded the history of man, the theology, and the entire philosophy which surround the entire life of a person. However, it would be alarming if no one finds the same line of thought in the scientific field when psychologically and physically analyzed using science. According to one of the most renowned psychologists Freud, s theory, an individual tends to have a given quantity of libido which defines that individual’s narcissism and level of self-love toward others. Nevertheless, the basic question still remains: does or can the psychological observation certainly to sustenance the firm thesis that contradiction and controversy still arise between self-love and love for other people? Or put it the other way; is it that self-love an equivalent of selfishness, hatred, and lack of concern towards other people? Are the opposite instances where such can stand true?

From the psychological perspective, there exists a big difference between love for others and love for oneself. The two forms of love are overlapping and the action for one will naturally exude the occurrence of the other part of love being exuded toward other people. Axiomatically, one may say that it’s within his or her reach and more so ethically to love their neighbors or friends, but the question which conflicts becomes, why should them not be in the same position to love him/her too?

According to Campbell (358), self-love is associated with a different perspective which affects an individual, differently. For instance, according to the article, Narcissists individuals who are associated with self-love have a tendency of viewing themselves to be loftier. For example, they tend to downplay any issue brought forward by their friends. In most cases, according to the article, the individuals will be less collaborative, egocentric, and tend to have very high self-esteem. Additionally, self-love can make individuals behave as being more ethically sound compared to their friends.
