Photographer
Essay title: Photographer
Taking photos has been one of the most loved careers in all of history. It is sought after for its prestige, the love of taking pictures and the chance to preserve your part of history forever. There are also many variations of the photographing career. Self-employment and commercial photographing is just a pair of the dozens of different ways you can take pictures for a living.

In a nutshell, what photographers do is produces and preserves images that paint a picture, tell a story, or record an event. They can do these in two ways. One way is to use either a traditional camera that records images on silver halide film that is developed into prints or a digital camera that electronically records images. Some photographers send their film to labs for processing. Color film requires expensive equipment and exacting conditions for correct processing and printing. Other photographers, especially those who use black and white film or who require special effects, like to develop and print their own photographs. Photographers who do their own film developing must have the technical skill to operate a fully equipped darkroom or the appropriate computer software to process prints digitally.

The average salary of a photographer can be dependent upon many things. One thing that it is dependent on is whether or not you work for a company and what size the company is. The average salary of a low-class photographer, such as one that works for small-sized companies would make around $15,000. Someone that made a middle-class salary would make about $24,000. A high-class photographer makes around $50,000.

Employers want people with strong imaginations and technical skills in photography. The most qualified individuals have degrees in photography or journalism. Portrait and freelance photographers must have technical aptitude as achieved through some kind of training. Several colleges and training institutions have photography programs that teach all creative and technical aspects of the art. Composition, design, techniques, processes, and equipment are each individually covered, whiles some bachelors programs have business courses. Those interested in a future in photography should gain as much experience as possible through camera clubs, summer employment in studios, and by subscribing to newsletters.

Photography work is highly appealing, so jobs will continue to be highly competitive. This is especially so in news and commercial photography, because demand is often greater than job supply. The most successful and self-employing freelance photographers will be skilled in technical and artistic abilities and be business adept. Specialized knowledge in a certain area, such as computers, is also very useful for prospective employees to know. Photographer employment rates are projected to grow along the occupational average over the next eight years. Demand should rise
