Introduction
How many of you have had a loved one affected by cancer? Well I wish I could say I havent but that would be a lie. Cancer is a general term for more than 100 diseases that are characterized by uncontrolled abnormal growth of cells. According to the Cancer Sourcebook for women, one out of every five deaths in the United States is from cancer. This means cancer is a serious disease that should not be ignored. Because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month I wanted to share with you the specific cancer that has affected my family. Today I will give you a little inset to what breast cancer is, women and the disease, and also how to early detect and be safe from the disease.

Even though October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, how many people are actually awareness of whats going on?
First Main Point: What is breast cancer?
Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from cells of the breast.
The disease occurs mostly in women, but men can get breast cancer too.
The American Cancer Society states, “Breast cancer is a complex and devastating disease and the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women in the U.S today.”

In the second point, I would like to talk about the many women around the world affected by breast cancer.
Second Main Point: How many women get breast cancer?
According to the National Breast Institute, right now there are slightly over 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer.

It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
