Dont you hate carrying your textbooks every day? The solution to your problem is to use a tablet instead. There many benefits of using a tablet.
Firstly, students carry their backpacks every day, however, it can be difficult to manage when students backpacks are filled with textbooks. It can be a big hassle especially to students who have to walk to school and back home every day and even a bigger hassle for student athletes who have to carry their sports equipment. Textbooks are heavy and cause injuries, while a tablet only weighs 1-2 pounds. A study done by US Consumer Product Safety Commission showed that during the 2010-2011 school year more than 14,000 kids, aged 6 to 18, were treated for heavy backpack-related injuries.

Secondly, the cost for a tablet may seem expensive, but its actually a lot cheaper. What the school pays for tablets, in one year of not buying brand new textbooks the school can regain that cost. Textbooks on tablets cost on average 50-60% less than print textbooks which can save the school a ton of money. A study done in 2012 by the FCC shows that K-12 school districts spend more than $8 billion per year on textbooks. Textbooks on tablets can save schools between $300-$900 per student per year and prices of tablets continue to drop which is making them more affordable. Studies have also shown, students who used tablets to study scored 20 percent higher on tests and quizzes as oppose to some who studied with a textbook.

In addition, tablets can be used for other things too, not just textbooks. Tablets contain many unique features that cannot be found in print textbooks.
