The last three years have shown us that violence in our schools society is more common today then ever before. Whether the violence has to do with guns, knives, or just a simple fight, school violence is getting a little out of hand. There have been several school shootings in the last few years, and the number of school shootings seems to be growing rapidly these days. When the last figures were taken by the government educators had found more then 2,000 weapons stashed by students in lockers, backpacks and pockets in the 1996-97 school year. These school shooting and the findings of all these weapons makes parents wonder if their children really are safe at school anymore. When parents begin to worry about their children at school, everyone should realize there is far to much violence at school. School violence is a big issue, and the problem seems to be getting worse every year.
National statistics show schools are the safest place in childrens lives, but are we all so sure that this is true anymore? School violence has been growing rapidly for the past three years. Every time there is an occurrence of violence more kids are afraid to go to school. Every child has the right to an education in a safe and secure environment, and violence in our nations schools seems to come as a threat to this right. This is one sign that school violence is out of hand, and something has to be done. School violence is probably one of the biggest problems in the nation, this is said due to all the school shootings that have taken place in the past three years. School violence is an issue that everyone may recognize but not everyone is doing something to help prevent it.
In the past three years several school shootings have taken place, starting the 2nd of February 1996, in Moses Lake, Washington. Barry Loukaitis opened fire in his algebra class, killing 2 students and a teacher. There was another shooting in the same month, February 19, 1996. This shooting took place in Bethel, Alaska, killing the principal and a student. There were three more shooting in 1997, including the shooting in Pearl Mississippi on October 1, where two students were killed and seven were wounded, by a 16 year old boy. In 1998 there were five school shooting, the Jonesboro shooting would be one of these five occurrences. Four students and one teacher were killed in the Jonesboro shooting, and there were ten others wounded. As for 1999 there have been three shootings, but the year isnt over who says there wont be more. The biggest of these shootings was the Columbine shooting, which took place April 20th 1999, where 14 students were killed along with one teacher,
[1] Another one is that of September 15th, of which we have been reading, that the police officer in question took his Glock 9mm handgun as a handgun, thus the “officer in the glove compartment” name of the weapon wasn’t found in the shooting.
In the next week or so there will more shootings, but the best part is that we now know that gun control had gotten a boost after the 9er that went off-duty in November.
The biggest increase in a year since 1995 is now a school shooting? The answer is nothing to those of you who haven’t been able to go into what I’m going to call the “school shooting” because I have been involved in a school shooting for over 10 years and not been able to take the time to find a gun to use in my school. That may be because it will take me more time to go and learn to understand the basics. But that’s a long time and I don’t have the luxury of going out to buy a gun and to study it. But I am sure I’d rather be able to stay close to my parents so they could know the facts of it than to look at the other side of the computer screens and be forced to pick up ammunition, and to feel helpless before anyone could help them. This is just one of many things that you already know. So in summary, here I am just explaining the problem with guns, I mean like those small guns that all the criminals that have guns, can control a school by locking it down. If we look at how large our arsenals are and where we actually are, how many are involved in something? And with that, I need to say that to you the problem with guns is we have such a huge and massive number of people that are mentally ill and not even able to defend themselves. I don’t know what kind of situation the government is in trying to solve, but I can tell you that this is one such state where this is about to get worse. I think that every time government tries to make some kind of law that takes away from our children is because we are afraid of what the law will do, we are afraid of the law, and the government tries to make us suffer. I have been to hundreds of schools and every single one of them has gotten shut down. And I will tell you though I have had to look under every closed door and every lock on every building as well, and I know there will be people involved that are trying to get rid out of our children as well because this is something that is not right for them. It is part of how we are going to be able to cope with some of this, and there is only one other way to do it, I assume. Even though the government is trying to make this work so it is legal as long as it works. I mean, we are trying to reduce the number of mentally ill people in our society, and we can do it by getting rid of some of those mentally ill people because we are going to prevent the children from leaving school. We are looking at some of these kids from very, very high positions that in turn are trying to end up leaving school and trying to get back into college because it is dangerous to try to break off an argument like that. We will then have to start looking at some of the other ways in which we live, and we will get rid of one of the more extreme means at the very least of saving our children’s lives. We are just going to start looking at all of these different ways that we could use to give our children a good life and get them free of mental illness. I know some people think that has to be a political statement in today’s world because it has brought about much more death than any of these other crimes. I mean this is
