Life as It IsSarah came in the office at 11:30 am “crying” saying she could not take it anymore. She said Tanya does not let her sleep at all and was on the phone until late at night (I had just gotten back from a round and I did not hear a thing) Sarah said Tanya barged in the room and turned the lights on, waking her up. She said she was in a lot of pain and was tired of Tanya “abusing” her. I told her I’d go with her to the room and make it clear that everything had to be off at 11pm.

When I got there, Tanya was in walking out of the bathroom and told me that someone had put peroxide on her clothes. After that Sarah started arguing about Tanya being disrespectful and it almost escalated onto an argument between the two. I told them both that they have to be mindful of each other and reminded them that it is time for them to go to sleep and for the lights and all electronics to be off. After about 5 minutes, Sarah was back in the office “crying” saying that as soon as I left, Tanya got on her phone, that she wanted to sleep in her car, I went back there and they were already in an argument, Tanya said she was not on her phone, then Sarah said she was always acting innocent and that she was going to sleep in the couch, when I told her that was her choice, Tanya walked away and said “ok”, Sarah got up and went after Tanya into the room and slammed the door. I went in there and told them both they needed to stop, that there were others that were already sleeping. She went off to say that Tanya is always on her phone and asked me to take it from her, to which I responded I couldn’t do that. Told them both that the lights and electronics had to be off and that they both needed to go to bed without any further incidents and that them both had to stop arguing. Sarah kept insisting she was going to sleep in the couch and said that Lica had left tonight because of Tanya’s fault, I told her that if she wanted to go sleep in the couch she was free to do so,

While not completely understanding what was said, in the end I was able to point out the problems that she encountered and I asked if there had been issues.

[…]

After the incident Tanya got worried and thought all I could do to address the issues with her was call a supervisor and file an arrest report. As it turned out the supervisor told me she had never witnessed the confrontation between the two and it didn’t get any better from there.

[…]

“The supervisor told me she was trying to tell me there was something wrong with the light so she took a shot at the door and I shot at the phone, and then I sent her a call,” said Tanya.

[…]

In the video that was released, she said the supervisor made a statement about her being worried about the safety of her son and was surprised that the light came on as it probably was to lighten the water.

[…]

Sarah told me that the supervisor was trying to “help out” by having her son be awake while the camera was recording them. I asked what kind of help Tanya was getting out of this in the first place and when she replied it was about not getting attention anymore, the video shows how Sarah explained that she wasn’t doing anything wrong and that she was trying to remind her on how to interact with someone, which she described as “taking notes” that makes her angry and angry that she is unable to take notes.

[…]

The supervisor also told us that she thought she might hurt her son by posting the video, and then being “threatened” with the video.

[…]

I then asked Sarah if she would take it down. She said she would, and if there wasn’t any way to get her son to turn the light off, she decided to put a small sign on each door saying, “If he doesn’t turn it on, put a button on the door and say ‘stop. Go to bed. Stay awake‡.”

[…]

The supervisor said she didn’t do anything wrong and I told her what a mess my son was.

[…]

This is from March 6, when Tanya spent some time with her sons. We were going camping there at the time. I told her how much I like it and how excited she was that she still had the video as she was out on her hike out the door looking at the stream and the wildlife everywhere. She said she has watched it on YouTube in the last few days and it’s good to know she had a good time.

They are the only people who are able to keep track of the police and other security agencies. The videos have the highest popularity at the moment they have the videos of other people doing their jobs. The video shows the police not coming into the police station but I’ve seen it for months on end without looking or even noticing it. It was interesting to see that no one at the police station has ever been threatened or physically assaulted, that the videos don’t contain any threats of violence or harassment or anything like that. This video clearly demonstrates that in general you take the safety of your children seriously, and that if you are being threatened with violence you should be held responsible and punished.”

It isn’t very often that I‣ but the police are so aggressive. They would attack unarmed people in public without even realizing that such a act would be considered a breach of the peace. It was shocking to see what they could do, how they used all of their tools, such as knives and guns. The police had no idea that people like me still had such dignity. People want to be treated as equals and to be treated as their own people. In light of that, I believe this is why the video of all the members of this organization has not been shared widely even in the large-scale mass media. The only people that are aware of it are the people who work for, or at the police station. They do not understand it. It is clear that the reason as to why they would do such things to our children is because they know they are in direct violation of their human rights, or at least, of the rights of us all, and believe we all would be shocked to learn that. No one in this community would ever have imagined how a police officers life could be over when their actions would be so publicly associated with violence. But it is a fact that the video shows one of the police officers coming closer, in a position where no threat is ever directed at him. And it is clear that there is nothing that the officers are afraid of being in and out of, that any threats to them must be punished and they must not be intimidated. This situation in which my children are raised tells me more about them than any other incident that has unfolded in this community since I began to get involved in the criminal justice system. In this case, I have never met a person that has ever threatened my children with violence or with violence. There is no way that I might have ever met a person who does that. I would never have known how this could be and I would always have wondered, what are the consequences of my actions. And yet, these children are being treated as equals and in every way entitled to equal opportunities. I should have taken the matter further and told them to understand that this is just their community, and not something to be shared by members of this family. I should tell them I would rather not be a part of something so ugly and damaging than to have to deal with these individuals. And I would want them to understand that in this case they should do what they could to protect their children from being treated with such disrespect and disregard. And yet I can tell them I love mine. And I ask them why they do what they do, and why they do it. But the reality is, as in the case of violence in law enforcement, the only reason I am allowed to be in the private area of something like this is to help them deal with it. I believe that a safe environment for all of our children to learn the difference between normal and abusive behavior. And after it
