“Life”“Do not kill the innocent” – Exodus 23:7Someone asked me “What is the best gift that you have ever received?” I answered “Hmmmmm. I think the best gift that I’ve ever received from the day I was born is…….. my life? Not just a life but my first and second life.”Everyday, million of lives are being taken. Everyday, many people are taking their last breath.Abortion, Extra Judicial Killings, Death Penalty and Etc. Those are just some example ofprohibition of life. How life is prohibited by these acts is never accepted, the fact that you willtake the life of others is unforgivable. But how ….San Juanico Bridge is well known as the longest bridge in the Philippines that symbolize love, but behind it’s symbolism is a bloody secret that lies through it. The urban legend about SanJuanico Bridge is one of the popular urban legends in our country. The building of this bridge lefta mysterious vanishing of children during its construction. It is said that, the foundations of thebridge were made of bloods of the street children and babies that have been disappeared. Thereare many versions of the story but one thing in common- it all involves children.Life is the most important thing in this world. I don’t know why God had given me a secondchance to live but I do know how lucky I am and you my fellow beings to be able to continue ourjourneys, to love and be loved, to be free of our own choices, to inspire others by our experiences, and over all, to have the chance to see how beautiful God’s creation is. We are truly fortunate tobe able to have the most precious gift of God, our life, and no one has the right to take it from us.The children that have been killed for the stronger foundations of the bridge were so unluckybecause they are deprived from their right to live. They did not even got to see and appreciate thebeauty of life, they didn’t even got a chance to dream and the memories that should be the fruitsof all the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and years have never been experienced, and wasshattered. Everyone has the right to live and decide for their own lives. Depriving others, fromtheir wills and life is a sin and is not allowed from God’s word himself. Killing is a moral sin andnever encouraged. Just as it is from the quote I’ve read, “Don’t do to others, what you don’t wantthem to do to you.”
