Organizational OverviewFounded by Sam Walton in 1962, Wal-Mart has more than 10,130 retail stores in 27 countries. “With fiscal year 2012 sales of $443 billion, Walmart employs 2.2 million associates worldwide” (WalMart, n.d.). Wal-Mart is a multi-service center offering many products to their customers. Here customers can purchase clothing, household products, automotive products, automotive services, groceries, furniture, toys, and many other items.

In the four decades that Walmart as be around the company has receives numerous awards and recognition. In 2011 the company was awarded the following awards just to name a few:

This is so important to the organization that Walmart will price match competitors prices if it is lower than the current listed price. Sam Walton vision was to save people money to help them live better. According to Wal-Mart, (n.d.) “Its the focus that underlies everything we do at Walmart.”

• “Wanted & Sought” – $5K raised from “Wanted & Sought” campaign, $500,000 raised. (WAMB) – Walgreen (W) – A company with a focus on the social transformation of the community that will benefit from new technology. It’s also investing in new technologies and a new retail store to capitalize on it. It was founded in 1989 under the leadership of Tim Walton. (The name refers to his father, Sr. of the Walton family-owned U.S.-based company founded in 1879.) Walgreen is a self-sustaining company, committed only to providing safe and clean water to its employees by using innovative processes to clean all of its facilities. The company has made its goals to build sustainable growth. In 2010 Walgreen announced that it was rethinking its strategy, the decision to invest $5K in the “Wanted & Sought” campaign, to put more pressure on the public and raise more money to pay for additional maintenance. (The company has been buying up as many as 100 stores by just last September.) The organization made “Wanted & Sought” a goal and has added a commitment to improve the service as well as to further invest in a new, more environmentally friendly retail shop. (U.S.-based company “Wambright” has also teamed up with the Walton family to build a Green Building that will eliminate waste and improve the health of the surrounding communities by providing clean air in its buildings). Walmart’s recent $5K investment in “Wambright” helps reduce the exposure to harmful chemicals in its stores. It has chosen to invest $5K in “Wambright” instead of the $3 K.C. goal. (A similar fundraising effort by a former employee of Wal-Mart in 1994 successfully funded Walmart’s expansion in 2006. (Walmart would later announce two more new U.S.-based companies under management by 2008.) The Wal-Mart “Wambright” brand initiative gives the group a chance to attract new employees or create new opportunities for Wal-Mart’s shareholders by bringing together the best working people among the biggest companies in the world to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing American businesses in the twenty-first century. The organization will seek to raise $500,000 by September 2015 in cash and stock and with $15K in a new trust to run on the future of Walmart. Each of its five employees will be chosen from a panel of five to take part in a $5K-for-all voting process. These selected individuals will select among other factors such as: • WAMB’s goals as a way to bring Wal-Mart to the people • Businesses who want to invest in Walmart’s product lines and services

• Retailers and business owners

• Businesses that want Wal-Mart’s brands and services in their corporate stores

• Businesses with corporate management experience

• Organizations that want to bring Walmart to their stores

• Employees that want to be involved in any new and innovative activities

• Businesses that want to invest in their community

• Local businesses and local governments

Wal-Mart has been investing tens of millions of dollars over the years to build on the gains made in the “Wambright” brand initiative. (In May 2010, Wal-Mart announced plans to sell off roughly 15 percent of its stock in a $4.8 billion deal. This
