Foundation of the Idea: [pic 1]Household spending on non-basic consumption items like consumer durables and services such as education and entertainment are on the rise in Rural India. The monthly per capita expenditure (MPCE) of rural households is growing at a much higher rate than that of Urban India.Indian Rural Consumers are driven by the deep desire to provide their children a better future; they are strongly family-oriented and want to ensure that their children do not have to undergo the same hardships that they have experienced in their lives. They plan to spend more on education and want to make sure that their children are guided properly and have access to good quality education. Unfortunately, quality and access to education is a major concern in rural schools because of the shortage of committed teachers and inadequate reading material. Marketing Idea: ‘MOBILE GURU’ – The idea is to create a toll-free number which will offer various education based services like:-Career Counselling: Parents in rural households may not be able to sufficiently mentor their children due to their limited education – they can call this number and seek professional advice on how best to fulfil their children’s potential, learn which are the better schools around their village and gain knowledge about different government benefits like National Scholarships for Rural ChildrenTuitions: School-kids can call up this number and solve any problems that they are facing in any subject – service will be offered in state-specific regional languagesReading Material: According to a UN report, limited access to text has been a barrier to literacy – parents can call this number and age-specific reading material will be forwarded to their mobile phones through SMS (4 SMS: 1 Article)Grievance Redressal: Parents can put forward their complaints like lack of implementation of mid-day meal scheme, poor functioning of schools and these issues can be forwarded to local government agencies and NGOs for redressalSkill Development: Offer Advice in solving basic problems in the different skill programs initiated by the Government in their National Skill Development MissionNGO connect: Help people connect with the local NGOs operating in their areaHow it Works:-[pic 2][pic 3][pic 4][pic 5][pic 6]Costing:-In India, there are about 181 Million Rural Households out of which 27% (49 Million Households) live in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
