Horse and Buggy Proposal
Driving down the Kingsway a month ago I noticed a sign beside a gas station that seemed to have a few numbers on it. I was puzzled by this sign because these numbers could not be gas prices, they were too high. Curious to see what this sign was I decided to pull into the gas station to fill up my truck. While grabbing the nozzle I saw a number on the pump that was identical to this strange number I saw on this sign. Thinking nothing of it I proceeded to fill up my vehicle. Amazed by the amount of money I had spent to fill up the truck, I had realized that this was not just a random number; this was indeed the price of gas. I cannot tell you the profanity that came out of my mouth at the time but I was furious and wanted to know the reason for this. So I did some research and found out the roots of this problem and what we can do about it.

The price of gas has risen sixty percent over the past two years and is still continuing to break records. This problem does not necessarily affect me right now but this issue is causing serious budget problems for low income families that need gas to get

to and from work to make a living. This is a reflection of many things like supply and demand and how these oil companies can raise their prices because we are so dependant on their product and will pay top dollar for it. So far, hybrid vehicles and ethanol fuels have been developed in order to save more fuel. However, society is going to have to switch to another source of energy because there is only so much fuel on this planet and we need alternative sources of fuel for when our supply runs out. There needs to be a plan where we can reduce the use of oil by almost 100 percent while also reducing the environmental and industrial impact on the earth.

A proposal of mine is that the government should raise the prices of gasoline so high that no one would be able to afford it. In order replace vehicles as the main mode of transportation, car dealerships will turn into horse and buggy dealerships. To keep society similar as to what it was before, the same laws that applied to cars and traffic will also apply to the horse and buggies. The roads that were used with vehicles would then be used for the horses. As for gas stations, they will start selling food and water for the horses to keep them going. The price of these fuels will be significantly lower compared to gasoline for cars. Insurance and licenses will also be mandatory if you wish to be able to ride the horse and buggy. If numerous horses are required to transport heavy loads then those horses will be supplied. This plan does not have very many loop holes and I feel that society will become accustomed to it within a few years.

Obviously there are not enough horses right now to enforce this plan presently so I figured that we should get horse procreation barns set up across the country or even

procreating these horses, there should be enough horses for all families
